Runs well using Proton-6.16-GE-1. All gamemodes were tested and work perfectly. No launch options needed.

EA Anti-Cheat blocks Linux/Proton and Steam Deck support.
This game no longer works on Linux due to EA's kernel level anti-cheat.

Multiplayer works great, but be careful playing the official multiplayer
Performance was a bit lower than Windows but I still hovered around the 80-90 FPS range on max settings at 1440p. I only tested out one match and I didn't experience any stutter, so it felt good overall.
The official multiplayer worked great but I'd recommending using Plutonium for multiplayer since the official multiplayer is full of dangerous exploits and cheaters. There's an install script for Plutonium on Lutris that can get you setup easily.
Overall, multiplayer booted up perfectly with no customizations or tweaks. Definitely a good experience out of the box but I'd heavily recommend using Plutonium for online MP/Zombies as it's a much better and safer experience.
Runs pretty well OOTB
Campaign ran a bit lower than expected, but still ran very well.
Steam's decryption of it's CEG DRM .exe can sometimes result in the game failing to launch.
Playing a custom game worked well, however I did have a crash when I exited back to the lobby.

Initially input was very delayed, but a game restart seems to have fixed it.
Upon the first launch the game ran 20-30FPS but after a game restart it went back up to the 90FPS framerate cap.
I played the Squads gamemode using 1440p Ultra settings (Other than FXAA, no depth of field, no motion blur, no dynamic fur).
It initially ran very poorly, (20-30FPS, heavy input lag) however after a game restart it went back up to the 90FPS lock that the game has. There was some stuttering but most of it is present on Windows too.

Steam overlay doesn't work
Despite the Steam overlay not working, both Steam and EA achievements unlock perfectly fine.

You can easily and safely convert your Linux save to Proton/Windows by simply backing up and renaming the save file in "SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/218620/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/local/PAYDAY 2/saves/[user-id]/linux_save098.sav" to "save098.sav"
It runs about the same as Windows (crashes and all). Won't launch for me on any version of ProtonGE past 7-50 for some reason but older versions of GE and vanilla Proton should be fine. Mods work exact same as windows, just include the DLL override launch option after installing SuperBLT.

Major FPS issues ever since the 1.0 update. Lowering settings doesn't improve much. Prior to this update, the game ran much better even with higher settings.

Heavy stuttering in menus and map screen
Running fairly well using Proton-7.1-GE-2. Gameplay performs well, but has heavy stuttering in the menus and map. The game crashed about after an hour or so of gameplay multiple times. Online play worked perfectly.

The game runs a little bit rough at times (40-80 FPS during regular gameplay). I never played it on Windows so I don't know if it's just a poorly optimized game or not. The quality of life modpack does work, you just have to add this launch option to the game through Steam: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
