Runs smoothly out of the box, with Graphics maxed out. Input Keyboard/Mouse and Steam-Controller work 100%. Sound 100%.
This is "tinker" because I used a GE-Proton. Should run on any Proton 9.xx .
After setting the synch I could max out the graphics settings with no ill effect, like native and graphic-card temp the same as in native.
- Renamed BorderlandsGOTY.exe to Launcher.exe
- used in Steam PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
- Selected in game sync settings to 60 Hz and NOT use the sync range setting (otherwise it would stutter)
Getting to the Startup-Menu without a hitch, after that, good luck, only empty window showing, after a while the crash reporter.
Following Mr.Monkey_Fishs Tinker:
$ protontricks 359320 -q dotnet472 win7
This took about 30 minutes to complete and generated a lot of error messages whilst running. I then had to make modifications to config files in the game directory, from both:
/steamapps/common/Elite Dangerous/EDLauncher.exe.config /steamapps/common/Elite Dangerous/HardwareReporter.exe.config
I deleted the following line:
<supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/>
and made sure the following line is present instead:
<supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/>
Clicking the startxxx button shows empty window, game crashes
Go figure: Runs on an Ryzen Laptop, 16GB, Nvidia RTX1650 like native, crashes on a beefier machine...
On this machine, stable as it can be, but on my "big" PC with the same OS on an AMD 8050 8core; 24GB Ram; Nvidia RTX2060, game would crash after 30 seconds into the game, regardles.
Pick it up on a sale to test, no demo to try out. Have fun (if it runs, of course). Cheers Frank
Update: "Go figure: Runs on an Ryzen Laptop, 16GB, Nvidia RTX1650 like native, crashes on a beefier machine..."
Stable on This PC, crashes on other PC: OS: Regata OS 24 Arctic FoxKERNEL: 6.8.8-lp155.9-defaultCPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core @ 4.1 GHzGPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060GPU DRIVER: NVIDIA 550.78RAM: 24 GB.
Games running on one of my 3 Laptops (all with Hybrid Graphics: Ryzen/Nvidia or Intel/Nvidia) have less "Problems" with this Game, compared to the AMD 8050 Machine with "only" discrete Graphics. Could be significant, or just a coincidence. As always:
Have Fun
Frank
Runs, out of the box with 30fps (on an Nvidia960M) with everything dialed down. Runs at 60fps and above on an RTX2060.
It is still updated (being just out of EarlyAccess) regularly,with new features
As of 1.5.x Update Game runs stable/no lag >20FPS on Steamdeck = finally playable. Runs even faster on PC, a kind of breakthrough; FINALLY!!
Steamdeck: Great performance and controls; PC: No lagging whatsoever, FPS stable, control responsive. This second update in '24 really delivers Performance and features. !!!!!!!!!!!
Runs on Steamdeck, using an Arch-Distribution on PC/Laptop is paramount, because !!Install-and-run-EA-App-Script only runs on Arch!!
Runs smooth on all devices, high FPSs, quality sound. USE an Arch Distro
Intel/Nvidia M2000M(~M960): few artifacts;a little sluggish, sound flawless ;
AMD-Ryzen/GTX1650:good graphics, fast, sound flawless ;
AMD FX-8350 /Nvidia RTX2060: Graphics can be maxed out(fast and beautiful), fast, sound flawless ;
Steamdeck: Running with 40fps and defaults (settings text is too small anyway), graphics ok, fast, sound ok
Runs equally well on Steamdeck and PCs and Laptops with medium to high end graphics cards.
This game is equally suited for Steamdeck as for big-screen machines.
