Originally I had to change the game to fullscreen in desktop mode on the first launch, but it looks like it is no longer a concern.
Takes a bit for the launcher to appear, but the game immediately boots beyond the launcher issue
FF3 Pixel Remaster is cool and all, but it is ridiculously bad as compared to the FF3 Old Ver and this 3D version. I recommend this version or the Old Ver over the PR version.

Both 3D Remake and PSP versions are the best way to play FF4, with the PSP version the most superior version out of all FF4 versions.
Cutscenes do not run without GE-Proton7-43
Some slowdowns in some areas especially when using the mirror shard, when the in-game config is left as it-is.
Run the game in non-DirectX 12 mode. The Dx12 mode doesn't work well. Then, follow the instructions below for better stability and performance. The game can run at 60 fps at lower graphics settings, however, although GPU clock will have to be turned off.
Deck Performance Settings
- Set FPS limit to 30
- Set GPU clock to 1000
- Set scaling to FSR (1x-5x is up to your preference)
In Game Settings
- Set framelimiter to 30
- Set graphics to High
- In Advanced Video:
- Set resolution scaling to 100%
- Make sure everything else is on High (not Very High or Cinematic)
- Turn VSync on
- Set window mode to any options that is not Borderless
Dx12 mode may cause crashes. Also, any graphics settings higher than 'High' may cause crashes.
Introduction
This is based on my last report and joroehl's report. There are two options here that you can use: recommended or visuals. (rec) is for saving battery and stable 50 FPS with slightly weak visuals, while (vis) will provide better visuals, while increasing battery usage and erratic FPS between 40-60 (rarely ~30).
Deck Battery Performance Settings
- Frame Limit: 50 Hz (rec) or 60 hz (vis)
- GPU Clock Frequency: 1000 (rec) or off (vis)
- All other settings are turned off. No need for FSR anymore as indicated in my last report.
Steam Launch Options
- DirectX 12
- Note: If you run into issues with it, revert back to pre-selected launch option (which uses D3D11).
In-Game Settings (Video Settings)
- Display Mode: Fullscreen
- Maxmium Frame Rate: 60 FPS
- Vertical Synchironization: Yes
- Resolution Scaling: Yes
- Scaling Percent: 85%
- Anti-Aliasing: Very High
- Shadow Quality: Low [rec] or Medium [vis]
- All other settings: Medium [rec] or High [vis]

This is honestly a surprise for me, considering how heavy of a game this is. The game now runs even better, but will still run considerably slow on Very High and above. D3D12 mode also can be now used without any concerns. (in the tinker steps, I said "rarely 30 FPS", but I actually meant "uncommonly* (facepalm))
Runs great out of the box, but installing mods recommended! So far, chaudloader works fine as compared to the last report.
- Install chaudloader: https://github.com/RockmanEXEZone/chaudloader
- Follow the installation instructions
- Finally, install the following mods in

In-game options: Turn vibration off, otherwise the game would crash using the controller beyond the menu
Turning off relections in the game settings is no longer a conern, however it is still recommended for mostly stable 60 FPS, otherwise keep it on and change to 50Hz from the battery perfomance settings (it will run between 30 - 50 FPS).
Change Frame Limit to 50 Hz
Noticable moving artifacts on the dead enemies (seems normal on Windows for me)
Occasional FPS drops in reflection-heavy areas
Disabling reflections will have a massive impact on the graphics, but otherwise it is great out of the box with only one tinkering
Removed the layer; moved mouse triggers to L2/R2; higher mouse sensitivity on the right stick
Although the game runs great, I recommend the "Definitive Edition" patch for the best experience with the controller support, which then you can use the Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad instead of what is listed on this report (make sure you set the mouse left trigger as well!). https://www.zombs-lair.com/post/definitive-edition-patcher-septerra-core
In-game options: Change display mode to Window, and SSAO Quality to Medium, everything else to High
Running the game in borderless or fullscreen mode seems to impact the perfomance for some reason, and if everything is set to high, FPS drops will be noticed all over the place. Setting SSAO quality lower is recommended to mend the FPS issue.

Back Grip R4: F11 (Quick Load)

Install & use Luxorpeda as a comptiblity layer from ProtonUp or manually, then select Daggerfall Unity after launching the game (should be auto-run afterwards)
Attempted VR mode with my Quest 2. Works fine, runs at mostly 30 fps, however many PC-only worlds tend to be very heavy which can put a strain on Deck.
