Game Runs Great Using Proton
I have tested this game on both Proton Experimental as well as Proton-6.21-GE-2 and under both instances the game runs just as you expect the game would run.
One thing to note however is higher framerates (Over 60fps) do kind of mess with the game a bit, but that appears to be a problem with the game on windows as well.
Game runs Perfectly with Proton GE, and almost perfectly with Proton Experimental out of the box, with only one minor issue.
The video used in the initial launch of the game won't be rendered properly unless you use Proton GE / mf-install.

Launching the game with Proton Experimental would not load the intro video scene, and also included occasional stutters while in game.
Using Proton GE resolved both of these issues.
There were some slight errors with Shadow Rendering in both Proton Experimental and Proton GE which lead to shadows being rendered where there was nothing to obstruct the light.

For AMD GPUs, create a file called 'dxvk.conf' in the game directory with the following:
dxgi.customVendorId = 1c06
The top launch option is for NVIDIA GPUs; If you have an AMD GPU, follow the steps below the launch option instead. Without these configurations, the game will launch to a black window.
Proton-6.21-GE-2
When I was initially Forcing Proton Experimental to this game my mouse wouldn't respond to clicks, even if it was shown in game. (Keyboard inputs worked, only the mouse was the issue)
To fix this I then swapped it to Proton-6.21-GE-2 instead which resolved that issue and as of my progress in the game so far everything has been working fine after that.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr %command%
I used the launch option above to enable Raytracing and DLSS but other than that my experience even during multiplayer was amazing out of the box.
This game has its faults, but the experience is definitely enjoyable for some quick matches with friends.

in the Classic 2015 version of this game there are significant performance issues, with the 2020 version however, there are still performance issues but on a much lesser degree.
In the 2020 version specifically, when beating a game whether its offline or online, the game will stop responding.
Despite the performance degradation this game has, I could see people having a good time playing this game. I would Recommend the 2020 version however, as the 2015 version of this game in my experience runs worse, which may be able to be partially solved with tinkering of settings, but I would recommend the 2020 version.
Game Runs Perfectly with Proton.
If one has stumbled upon this game and wondered if it would work on linux, the answer would be yes.
