Custom Proton Version from Glorious Eggroll 5.9
Crashed on me once.
I recommend installing gamemode and using the gamemoderun %command% in the launch options.
Despite CSGO being native, It's completly borked for me. It worked fine two weeks ago on Manjaro. I have since moved on to Fedora 35.
I've found online that it has something to do with libtcmalloc, but I can't even get the file installed on my distro. I have the gperftools-libs installed as suggested by multiple guides online. I also read a newer report on github, that even this workaround doesn't work anymore. I would be really glad if Valve did something already. The issue is present a really long time.
What I tried:
- Running the game natively (results in black screen and crash)
- Running the game using Proton 6.3.7 (results in a window showing that I have to update Steam)
- Running the game using Proton 6.3.7 - GE (results in a window showing that I have to update Steam)
- Reinstalling Steam
- Trying the libtcmalloc-minimal4 solution
- Deleting /panorama/videos folder
- Launch options -novid, -nojoy
Other than the screen going black in interiors glitch the game ran as well as native.
When I came to the 'No Tell Motel' The screen went black and I've only seen the HUD. I assume that other interiors can have the same problem.
Game crashed immediatly after starting. Tried older Proton Versions too, yet it's still borked.
Runs great out of the box
Game is a little too dark.
Launched with a bad resolution for the first time.
Well, didn't work properly until I enabled Wine3D, after that fix I achieved better framerate than in Windows!!
Really works great. Sometimes even runs better than on Windows in my opinion.
The game sometimes freezes for a few seconds. Crashed on me once.
One crash so far.
I recommend using Feral Gamemode: https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode
and putting gamemoderun %command% into the launch options
Runs much better with Tk-Glithch's fork of Proton. Not sure why, but I was able to run it without any flags.
Sometimes the cursor seems delayed, but it's nothing unbearable.
After I used PROTON_USE_WINE3D=1 %command% I managed to get stable FPS at high settings. Recommend this tweak to you all.
All you should use is the Wine3D option and you also should launch it without the launcher.
