Game works very well under linux if your hardware is capable to handle it. This is still basically demo. So optimizations etc are missing
gamemoderun %command%
Choppiness on audio probably due to general game engine issues.
Game stutters due to Unreal Engine 5 issues. Nothing Proton/steam related so far
Game looks great but suffers generally UE5 issues of stuttering shader compilation etc?
My graphical settings are as following on 1440p:
- TSR + 80% resolution quality
- AA to Low
- Shadow Quality to High
- Global illumination to Medium Every other settings suggested Gothic setting.
- Bloom 0
- Ambient occlusion 0
I get around 25 - 70 (mostly 50-60) FPS depending of area. Inside cave can keep up around 80-90 easily and framerate is ofc more stable.
The issue with the game is that frame times jump between ~11ms - ~40ms all the time making game somewhat unplayable if move. Thou the frametimes settle when you dont move the camera. Not sure if some setting would make it more stable.
Other than that. Game works fine.
sed -i 's/fullscreen[[:space:]]=[[:space:]]true/fullscreen = false/' /path_to_game_drive/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/553850/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Arrowhead/Helldivers2/user_settings.config ; MESA_SHADER_CACHE_DISABLE=true gamemoderun %command% --use-d3d11
Seems that when you try to launch the game 2nd time either after crash or normal launch and you change the game to fullscreen if the option fullscreen is at value true. Game wont launch and instead gives you black screen with grey bars for me. After changing the value to false game launched fine within windowed mode. Made small sed command line script to change the value at every launch from true to false. If you prefer fullscreen without gamescope
Game crashes when alt tab out of the window/screen
Crashing and launch issues after the crash needs to be handled to make it flawless experience.
If the alpha build matures and performance issues in general are taken care of don't see no reason this wouldn't work nicely.
Game runs "fine" with latest proton 5.0 install mf patch from github to PREFIX and get videos working. Performance on the otherhand is very unplayable but this is due alpha. Lets hope they can figure out it running more smoothly over time.
Fixed by PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 and setting default-sample-rate = 44100 on daemon.conf
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json:/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json RADV_PERFTEST=aco DXVK_STATE_CACHE_PATH=/mnt_point/rdr2 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxgi=n,b" gamemoderun %command% -ignorepipelinecache -vulkan -fullscreen
My launch options. What was important to make game launch VK_ICD_FILENAMES variable. Even with AMD gpu. So if you crash @ 23-25% loading make sure you have variable set also.

Shader's take bit time to compile. But it appears to be according community atleast normal. What i have noticed everyone who have nvidia card and use DLSS seem to have less shader compile while running.
Backround music levels seem to be bit low. But i think thats more of an game issue instead of proton/linux issue. The sound levels can also be adjusted ingame.
Also notifying this is Demo-version verdict. Thou it's quite possible (taking to an account how large the demo is in download size. The whole game is included in download. Meaning that while downloading demo you actually download whole game in it's final form and you are only limited purchase of the game for full access)
