Ran fine after switching to windowed fullscreen.
Exclusive fullscreen caused the game's window to not appear, however windowed fullscreen works fine. (Launch in windowed mode and switch to windowed fullscreen in-game).
Audio did not work. I verified that the game was outputting to the correct source (via qjackctl), but there was no audio being transmitted.
There was a slight stutter with player movements. Other moving objects (npcs, objects you pick up) move smoothly.
Player movements had a slight stutter.
I was able to play the game. So generally, it was a success. However, there were some major issues that really took away from the experience, the biggest of which is that I could not get the game to output any audio. The game also took a weirdly long time to launch.
It ran perfectly
I experienced one issue with a sound clip repeating for a few seconds but I m pretty sure that was due to the game, not proton. Overall very good experience.
Proton version doesnt launch (tried Proton GE, 6.3-8, Experimental and pure wine). Got "No SteamUGC"
Cant get into the main menu with proton or normal wine (i did get the farthest with wine though). I can get into the menu with the Linux version, however loading maps crashes the game with no error.
Game launched to black screen, custom cursor, nothing else
TL;DR, Wine gave a GL buffer error, tried installing Direct X 11 (as given in an error report by the game), but didnt get anywhere.
I could not get the game to do anything with proton, but launching it manually with wine made it load into a black screen with the games custom cursor, but nothing else.
Lots of GL buffer errors were shown in the terminal, which one user on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/wine_gaming/comments/g0vroz/opengl_buffer_error/) said to set the __GL_ExtensionStringVersion export with wine to 17700. I tried this, and the game gave an error saying I needed to install DirectX 11. I installed that with winetricks, which made the errors go away, but still no video or audio output.
The game worked perfectly after a quick fix (proton experimental and custom launch option).
To get this game working, switch to proton experimental, and add the following to your launch options:
eval "$(echo "%command%" | sed 's/+connect.*$//')"
After this, the game worked flawlessly.
Could still see window border of the window.
This worked almost perfectly. Graphics, gameplay and sound were all on point. The fullscreen is a little wonky but it barely effects the overall experience,
Game no longer launches after recent update
The game immediately crashes after the splash screen opens. I have tried proton experimental, GE and vanilla wine. No difference.
I've got near 200 hours in this game. It's a shame to just be booted off like this.
Got the following error in vanilla wine:

(hopefully) Temporary workaround for borked patch
I rolled back the game version
I was able to get the game running by reverting to an older version of the game (before the patch that completely borked it). This can be done with the following commands:
- Open Steam's console
First, make sure that Steam is open, then enter the following in your address bar:
steam://nav/console
(make sure to click the one that is shown as a link). This should give you the "CONSOLE" tab in your steam client.
- Download the older version of the game.
Enter the following into the steam console:
download_depot 700330 700331 7141588317675557238
This will download an older version of SCP:SL (from around 9 days ago). This won't show any progress bar when downloading, so please check your network activity to see when the download has finished.
- Installing the downgraded version
The previous command will install the game in
steamapps/content/app_700330/depot_700331
.
To run this version as your main game, first delete all files in
steamapps/common/SCP Secret Laboratory
(the up-to-date game), then move all files from the first directory, into the SCP Secret Laboratory directory. Be sure to create a backup of these new files, as any new update will revert these changes, and you will need to replace the game's files again.
After you've completed these steps, your game should be up and running again.
Please keep in mind that this essentially stagnates your game. Any new updates will likely break the game again. We're essentially stuck on this version forever (at least until the SCP:SL devs do something about this).
The game works perfectly. Getting great performance (80-90fps) on maxed out graphics settings (using Vulkan). Voice chat works perfectly as well. The only minor issue is sometimes the game will crash in the menu. This is fixed after relaunching the game.
The game ran perfectly out of the box. Got great performance on max settings, voice chat worked flawlessly. Great experience.
There were some minor geometric bugs after starting up a web browser while the game was on max settings. Likley just ran out of vram.
I did run proton experimental, but the game would likely run just as well on proton 7.0-1, which i believe is the default version of proton.
Cant get past sign-in page
Got cyanbeard error at first, tried verification and re-installation but now the game freezes after trying to sign in. Pretty new error, never seen it before :(
This game runs very nicely. I consistently got 60fps, even on max settings with downscaling! It worked with my Dualshock 4 without any issues. It ran perfectly out of the box.
It ran essentially perfectly.
The game crashed after I fell into the sinkhole. Other than that, there were no issues!
I got great performance with all the graphical settings maxed out. The gameplay was smooth, and the multiplayer ran well. I did, however, experience one crash after I fell into the sinkhole and subsequently died, but other than that, there were no issues.
Note: I ran the game with Proton GE 6.21, as other people said normal proton has issues. I haven't tested vanilla proton yet.
