I have been able to play on the Very High preset with TAA anti-aliasing at 4K without any issues. Please note that when starting the game, Steam takes a long time pre-loading Vulkan Shaders.
I did not need to include any of the startup options or tweaks mentioned in other reports. Once again, Glorious Eggroll includes most adjustments needed for Proton without adding any flags or additional tweaks.
Most of the Game Works Perfectly. 3D Mark is broken on Linux for version 1.7.1 of this game.
3D Mark testing is completely broken on version 1.7.1 of the game only on Linux. Once you press start on any 3D Mark test, the screen is completely black, and you cannot cancel the test. You are forced to powercycle the in-game computer, and are unable to complete any 3D Mark jobs.
In Response to Mr. Ice: My 3D Mark tests are still broken, even with Media Foundation DLL installed.
I installed Media Foundation to a Wine prefix as required, and I set that Wineprefix in the lauch options of the game on Steam.
3D Mark tests do not work at all on the latest version of the game (1.7.1), even with the Windows Media Foundation DLL installed. The computer attempting to run 3D Mark will show a black screen, the three stats labels for the 3D Mark stats show at the bottom of the screen, but no numbers are showing or running the test. I cannot even cancel the 3D Mark test except to power off the in game computer.
For me, the frame rates are so low that it is unplayable; regardless of graphics quality settings.
Fullscreen starts with a white screen, but switching to another desktop and coming back to the game works.
Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, but no matter what quality settings, I get extremely low frame rates and stuttering both in the game and in the menus.
Custom version of Proton fixes all performance issues and the game runs better with this than it would native on Windows.
Proton-GE-Custom 5.4_GE_3 GloriousEggroll
I installed Glorious Eggroll's 5.4 Proton build Revision 3 via Arch Linux AUR. For Arch Linux, I used proton-ge-custom-bin. The bin package installs it as though you manually downloaded and installed GE's Proton yourself, and it automatically appears as a Proton option inside of the Linux Steam application.
In a previous post, I mentioned that Steam's current build of Proton (5.0-5), would run the game, but my framerate would be unplayable. Using Glorious Eggroll's build of Proton, it automatically launches this game in a Wine Container (Virtual Desktop, if you will), so Fullscreen works automatically (no white screen), and the performance of the game is better than it was for me on Windows on the same system, with a frame rate above 60fps.
Game Runs Flawlessly, and Controller Controls work perfectly with instant response!
Remember to disable U-Play's overlay, it will ask you to enable the overlay each time you start the game. As long as you do not turn on the UPlay overlay, this game will be a great experience!
