Launch the game the first time using the Larian launcher and tick the DX11 checkbox. Quit the game and add "--skip-launcher" to the command.
--skip-launcher
Using Vulkan; the loading screen kept on top of everything else after a short black flickering of the image on screen. I was unable to get in the game menu. I was able to launch a terminal and issue a reboot command, but I could not see what I was typing due to the loading screen being "stuck".
As stated above; Vulkan caused issues for my system and switching to DX11 using the Larian launcher made the game "stick" with DX11. Adding the "--skip-launcher" command to skip the launcher and the game runs great now.
If the image appears to be too crisp and sharp on native resolutions, turning off "Contrast Adaptive Sharpening" in the settings did the trick for me.
There was no need for tinkering because it worked out of the box.
At certain levels, the sound would crackle occasionally.
Occasional framerate stuttering during fights.
It works flawlessly out of the box.
The game starts in fullscreen (windowed). When I changed the setting to Fullscreen, the screen seemed frozen. I had to use Alt + F4 to close the game and return to Steam. I relaunched the game and it worked flawlessly in fullscreen.
The game's initial framerate limiter setting is unlimited. This produced so many FPS on my system, my graphics card started to produce horrible coil whine. Solution: set the framerate limiter to the highest value of 240 fps. Smooth gameplay and no coil whine. Maybe this tip will help someone suffering from the same issue.
XBox controller works fine and smooth, I had issues with my mouse feeling laggy.
XBox controller works smooth out-of-the-box, mouse control is laggy.
After certain patches, the game runs smooth.
Sometimes it's needed to relaunch the game to make it run smoothly.
Sometimes the game runs horrible, with heavy stuttering and audio crackles. Lowering the graphics settings makes no difference. If I simply quit the game and relaunch it, the game runs great and smooth. Reproducable, no idea as to why though.
I'm unable to find out why the game runs smoothly one time and horrible the other time. The solution is easy enough; just quit the game and relaunch it. It's not even needed to load your savegame, the menu already feels horrible to interact with.
Fully playable out of the box. I used DirectX 11, because DirectX 12 would cause a slight stutter every other second.
During certain split-screen scenes, the image would occasionally stutter.
The audio overall is fine. Later in the game, when you enter certain areas, there is a noticeable reverb. Exit the area only to return, and the reverb is gone.
Some might call these artififacts "fireflies," bright dots during certain camera angles.
"Them and Us" is (for me) the only game to require "Steam Overlay" to be turned on for the XBox controller to function at all.
During the entire game, there was only one crash.
Video playback is distorted, but nothing that keeps you from playing and enjoying this game!
Strange image colors on menu screen, as if there is an overlay on top.
