Works without problems on PC and Steam Deck
As others have noted, control mappings are a bit weird and can't be changed. Other than that, nothing to complain about.
Works well enough but doesn't recognize DS4 controller
Game doesn't recognize DS4 contoller that's plugged into USB. Works well with keyboard and mouse.
Performance is really poor. With default settings for my hardware I was able to maintain stable 20 FPS in main menu and in-game 22-24 FPS.
My tiny village has more people (43) than my GPU (6900 XT) can produce FPS (24)
Performance problems seem to be cross-platform so it's not Linux-specific. This game needs some serious fixing before I want to build any bigger city than my current tiny village.
Works well without any tweaking
Crashed couple of times during 40+ hours playtime.
Game doesn't launch, can't get beyond CDPR launcher
The game doesn't even start. I updated Mesa to the latest git revision (21 devel).
vulkaninfo |grep VK_VALVE_mutable_descriptor_type outputs
VK_VALVE_mutable_descriptor_type : extension revision 1
so everything should be fine.
I run Steam from CLI as "steam -console". When I click Play in Steam, CDPR launcher starts and is visible but when I click PLAY from CDPR launcher, it just closes and the game doesn't start. I can see errors in CLI such as
System.NotImplementedException: Managed.TextFormatting.FullTextLine.GetRunMetrics for MS.Internal.Text.TextSpanModifier
[ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.NotImplementedException: Managed.TextFormatting.FullTextLine.GetRunMetrics for MS.Internal.Text.TextSpanModifier
I don't think GetRunMetrics is specified - should GetSystemMetrics be called instead? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winuser/nf-winuser-getsystemmetrics
Apparently many Windows users are experiencing the same problem, game doesn't start from red-launcher. I'll wait couple of days for patches or so before refunding. Tested using Fedora 33, Proton 5.13-4, Gnome 3.38 (Wayland and Xorg) and KDE Plasma 5.20.3 (Wayland and Xorg).
It's OK but should be better (missing sounds, performance)
Radio and missing NPC sounds
Can't maintain 60 FPS on 1440p
I couldn't get this run on the release day. Deleting ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1091500 helped. Now it's playable but the game has its share of bugs that even Proton can't fix.
Had to edit file "GraphicOptions.JSON" in game's base folder, change ""FRAME_RATE_LIMIT" from 1 to 4 to avoid stuttering.
Without changing ""FRAME_RATE_LIMIT" from 1 to 4 the game would give 2-4 FPS and massive stuttering. After changing this value FPS stays constantly at 60.
Single-player mode works well enough
Unable to set 3440x1440 resolution, had to use 1080p. Multiplayer not tested. No crashes, no visible bugs. The game is some good fun, recommended!
The game does not start
Tried to add nw_elf.dll to windows\system32 and game directory, no dice.
Five years after the first Proton report, the game still doesn't launch. Proton 5.13 is able to show error "Cannot load library nw_elf.dll", newer Proton versions fail silently.
Tested on PC and Steam Deck. What a shame, I'd like to play this small indie gem.
Does not work. Thanks EAC and ignorant devs.
System Integrity Violation. Error code TFAV0010.
DX11 mode works perfectly, DX12 causes crashes
Occasional crashes when using DX12
DX12 mode causes crashes in certain places (sometimes when running around Novigrad, always when starting quest An Eye for an Eye). DX11 mode works without problems.
This happened on both Gnome and KDE on Wayland.
No tinkering required, works very well.
Using DualShock 4 as input, no multiplayer tested yet. Works just like Trine 4, no problems.
Works well out of the box
Works very well on PC and Steam Deck. My only gripe is that the game physics is tied to non-configurable refresh rate (30 Hz).
