Uses EAC but compatible with Linux.
Full playthrough, 0 proton issues. The bugs I ran into were typical and known problems on all platforms.
Installed and used XIVLauncher from Discover. Not required but it greatly improves the experience and allows useful mods.
Slight slowness in large city areas. Overall though it runs pretty well.
https://goatcorp.github.io/faq/steamdeck for mods such as noclippy to greatly improve the xiv experience.
Works out of the box perfect on GE Proton 9-23. Even installed mods and those worked perfectly without issue.
Overall works great. Mouse has bounds issue on multi monitors but kde plasma has a reliable workaround.
Game did not perfectly grab mouse in bounds, so clicking on the very edge when in full screen would click off the game and go onto the other monitor.
It was fixed and now works flawlessly on KDE with F3 -> more actions -> configure application specific settings -> add property -> focus protection -> force insane.
This is not an issue on single monitor setups.
Was playing with my Windows friend. No problems here.
Game overall works pretty well. Some of the songs are laggy but they are laggy on windows as well.
I couldn't remap my controller in steam's controller config. Also rumble was not working.
It just works now on proton 9 and GE. Except the cash shop. You cannot buy gems ingame, but if anything that's also a positive.
In /home/deck/.steam/steam/userdata/[USERID]/600610/local/Merlin.ini I edited prj_bHardwareMouseCursor so it would say. prj_bHardwareMouseCursor = 0;
This is because when you have a controller plugged in the mouse cursor will not display. I wanted to use a steamdeck layout that allowed me to use the trackpads as a virtual mouse as it is much faster than using a controller.
This is not required but improves the experience a lot.
Changing the startup command to WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command% and installing and starting xboxdrv (systemctl start xboxdrv) causes the game to run more or less perfectly.
The first time you run it it will be kinda laggy but after disabling or enabling vsync (instead of leaving it at auto) and playing like 2 matches it runs basically perfectly after that.
Without xboxdrv or a controller plugged into your computer it will crash after 5 minutes. But with it the only place I've gotten crashes is the plains of eidolon with a party of 4, because my GPU overheated and froze up.
Launch with launch options:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
Start xboxdrv before running:
sudo systemctl start xboxdrv
First ever run has unplayable fps but switching vsync in game to either on or off (instead of auto) fixes it.
