Work fine after tinkering steps, but winetricks will give a lot of unknown Arch warnings, that can be ignored, but still annonying.
I've followed instructions in JRuizdelaHoz report. However, I had to completely delete compat data(/home/<USER>/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/517810/
) before achieving success, that seems to be required if you've tried different tinkering steps before.
- In Steam, switch compatibility to proton 4.11-13 for this game.
- In Protontricks, select the game, navigate to: "Select the default Wineprefix / Install a Windows DLL or component". Select "dotnet20" and "d3dx9_29" to install. Follow wizard steps.
- Back in Protontricks, go to "Run taskmgr". Click "new task", type "cmd". In the command line, navigate to the folder with:
cd .steam/steam/steamapps/common/caesar 4/C4
and then run this file:registerdll.bat
In the end, it reads something like "types have been defines correctly". - Close Protontricks and play normally.
Mouse is a bit too fast when rotating the camera
open regedit and then Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reality Pump\Earth2160\Interface. Change the value of ShowIntro from 1 to 0. That fixes intro videos stubs that anyway were not playing. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reality Pump\Earth2160\Interface. Change the value of ShowCredits from 1 to 0. That removes credits after exiting the game. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reality Pump\Earth2160\Interface. Change the value of MaxInterfaceWidth to your screen width, if you think UI is too big you can divide value by 2. Take note that value is entered in Decimal mode.
in winecfg I also locked cursor, since the game has no such option built-in.
Tabs in options menu don't work - so no options are changeable
It does not run under steam recommended proton at all, but runs w/o audio on GE
Flickering and black dots ruin experience too much for it be enjoyable
Roads and building flicker, Lots of black dots in mountains and river
Also tried with GE - no luck. Graphic settings make no change to issues mentioned
While SP experience could be played with basically any proton version, in order to have multiplayer I had to switch to experimental
If you get black screen: open .local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2694490/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile 2/poe2_production_Config.ini if the file is empty - let the game sit for a couple of minutes. It writes it down a bit later. Once you got it populated, close the game and update it so it reads: renderer_type=DirectX12 in the [DISPLAY] section. You could also put here dx12, that will utilize legacy DX11 renderer, which is kinda slow, but it will work on older hardware
