The base configuration works perfectly.
For reference running gamescope with Wayland to get HDR, seems to create a stutter issue after some random amount of time usually 20+ minutes of play.

The cinematic disabled/dampened the mouse movement. If you go to "credits" in your menu, and skip it; the mouse will start working again.
Infrequent crashes, but adding --use-d3d11 to the launch options seems to fix it
Not sure if it's the servers or proton, but sometimes the player models won't load. Also sometimes im unable to join other games, it will fail to join.
gamemoderun %command% --use-d3d11
Mouse was detected, but dampened. Tabbing out, and clicking into the game, seems to fix that.
Not sure if it's a game bug or proton's. Picking items from shipping containers makes my character be stuck for like 10secs. All buttons are received, but not acted upon, except for crouch and stims.
Random disconnects. Also unable to join running games.
Pop in/flickering of foliage. Switching from proton version 9 to 8 fixed the flickering.
DRI_PRIME=1! %command%
full screen desync your mouse coordinates. It has an offset from the correct location
Fixed by specifying DRI_PRIME=1! OR 1 or DXVK_FILTER_NAME="AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT" or "YOUR GPU NAME"
either try to:
- force dedicated gpu with DRI_PRIME=1!
- manually set a filter to use the dedicated GPU DRI_PRIME=1 DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT" %command% and you can find your gpu name with (requires you to install "vulkan-tools" in your package manager ) vulkaninfo | grep "GPU[0123]" -A 10
- Use Lutris and mess with the "multi gpu" section to use different loaders, and to use or not to use a dedicated gpu. This worked for me as well.
You may also want to add shader caching arguments
Graphics settings wouldn't save between runs(all graphic settings were low), so i had to manually edit the file in .steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1174180 /pfx/drive_c/user/steamuser/My Documents /Red Dead Redemption 2/Settings/system.xml
