The Arcade/Time attack/Survival/DOA Quest modes are problematic.
In loading screens, audio pauses frequently
Music during loading sounds broken.
On "online", no crashes. On "DOA Quest", or "Arcade"/"Time Attack"/"Survival" the game crashes on the loading screen. The screen freezes.
As reportred, "Story mode" doesn't work (black screen crash).
On different harfware (AMD CPU/AMD GPU) I had no problems. On this machine (Intel CPU/AMD GPU) the game crashes as described.
Doesn't load
Installed game and tools, the button reads "Play" (green). Hit the button, it changes to "Cancel" (blue). Then to "Stop" (blue). Then nothing. Nada de nada. And it goes to "Play" (green) again.
Had to rename the videos, no online modes.
The game starts, and then drops (to steam). As suggested, renaming the movies (*.mp4) on steam/steamapps/common/NASCAR Heat 5/NASCARHeat5_Data/StreamingAssets/PC/Movies (so that they are unavailable to play) the game launches, and career works just fine.
On multiplayer, fails with "Multiplayer error", and drops to lobby list. The game lists available lobbies, but can not join (or host) games.
Arcade and online work great. Story mode freezes on a black screen.
On "Story mode", the game freezes on a black screen (no audio). Perhaps a movie?
Run the game with log activated, the relevant part would be:

Doesn't start
Installs game and tools. Clicking the "play" button cycles between cancel, stop, and play.
