Works perfectly and just like native, so just use native instead.
It has a great native linux port, no need to use proton at all... although you definitely can if you face any issues with native.
Works great right out of the box.
A bit of stutter when you open the game or deploy in a new map, but it goes away.
Works with Proton 7.0-1
Not sure if they updated the game. On default the game doesn't show anymore using any Proton version. However it launches and plays fine when forcing Proton 7.0-1.

Tried with Proton Experimental and Proton 6.3-7
Had to install dotnet40, xna40, vcrun2017 and dotnet45 in the game’s prefix with " WINEPREFIX=/home/[username]/[pathtosteamlibrary]/steamapps/compatdata/975510/pfx/ winetricks" winetricks alone doesn't do anything and you'll need to force with -f dotnet45, however it needs wine 6+ the one installed in ubuntu doesn't work install winehq from the page, install dotnet40 and xna40 first
The menu sometimes slows down when you get out of a game session
WINEPREFIX="/home/[YOUR_USERNAME]/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/975510/pfx/" winetricks xna40 dotnet40 dotnet45 use --force on dotnet40 and dotnet45 or else it doesnt let you install them.
No luck. Did not start all.
