It works but missing the ability to create more than one save file
quicksave and quickload work, but you cannot save normally
Works well apart from a critical issue with the save/load game window dialogue.
The save/load game window dialogue is broken. The majority of the elements don't display rendering the player unable to select a save file or even type its name in and click the Save/Load button. The game is technically playable and finishable as long as you restrict yourself to using only quicksave/quickload and every time you restart the game, you must start from New Game and then quickload into your last quicksave - basically avoiding the save/load dialogue completely.
I enabled gyro for the zoom view. I also mapped shift to the outer ring of the left joystick with autorun turned off. This allows for walking or running depending on how far the joystick is moved.
Loading menu is fixed with Luxtorpeda
with a bit of effort it is possible to run Infernal machine on the Steam deck!
Working perfectly, except for saving and loading, which you have to do through quicksave/quickload (F5/F8).
Added buttons for saving, loading; added virtual menus for weapons and items.
The load/save window is completely white and unusable. However, you can use quicksave/quickload buttons, which I had to assign in layout to the back buttons.
Do not use triple buffering in the display settings, otherwise the game doesn't work.
works great now
Game fails to start and crashes. The Intro movie was not looking good also and was cut off.

Some frustrations, but fully playable with a little patience and some work-arounds.
Shadowed areas sometimes appeared completely black
Save/load menu does not display saved games initially. Tabbing to highlight list of saves gets it to display, however.
The game itself has some bugs that require fixing in the game files, but these bugs exist on Windows, too.
Saving game or loading saves does NOT work.
Using alt-tab repeatedly ends up working. Just insist.
Still almost unplayable, even with D9VK. The biggest problem: it's stil impossible to open saved games after playing and leaving the game the first time, and that makes finishing the game highly unlikely because of the duration (over 10 hours). Besides, changing the resolution doesn't scale like it should, leaving part of the menu icons on the bottom of the screen "unseen"; and most times, the "settings" window opens somewhere the mouse can't reach. It's NOT anything higher than a bronze rating.
Surprisingly, this game is finally playable on modern OSes again thanks to Proton. A change in either Vista or XP (don't remember) rendered this game unplayable for a long time, and now it works great with D9VK. This means that the Linux compatibility for this game is better than the Windows compatibility.
Unfortunately, despite the game working pretty good, my memory of this game has been through rose-colored glasses. The controls in this game are wonky at best and it is extremely difficult to simply move around and do basic things. I forgot about that aspect of this game.
sithCogFunction.c(3211): (pThing->type == SITH_THING_PLAYER) || (pThing->type == SITH_THING_ACTOR)
Mostly works (graphics, sounds and music, keyboard controls), but higher resolution is flawed; mouse sometimes stops working inside the config menus; and the biggest problem is that, after quitting the game the first time, the game won't allow me to resume the game / open saved games, or even save new games (and this game is over 10 hours long).
