Game works perfectly straight out of the box with no tinkering.
Arguably runs better on Linux than on current Windows because Windows has a minor graphical bug where the pre-rendered sprites show up more pixelated than they were back in the Windows XP days. On Linux, the graphics show up perfect, just as they are supposed to.
FPS is definitely lower than it would be running natively on Windows on the same hardware but it never dropped under 60 FPS so I would describe the performance as acceptable.
Works well apart from a critical issue with the save/load game window dialogue.
The save/load game window dialogue is broken. The majority of the elements don't display rendering the player unable to select a save file or even type its name in and click the Save/Load button. The game is technically playable and finishable as long as you restrict yourself to using only quicksave/quickload and every time you restart the game, you must start from New Game and then quickload into your last quicksave - basically avoiding the save/load dialogue completely.
