- error install visual c++ fix = https://youtu.be/lS2_QrRd9-Y
- delete protonfixes folder using protontricks
- open the game again click "yes" on install visual c++ error then install unreal engine dependencies stuff if asked
30 fps cap

I was using proton 6.3-8.
The game doesn't start because of "Invalid ACL". Installing vcrun2019 solves this issue, and the game runs without any significant problems.
protontricks 865540 vcrun2019

Right click the game in your steam list, go to Manage->Browse Local Files. Go to ./Engine/Extras and rename the Redist folder to anything else. Now when you start the game the UE4 redist won't be detected and the game starts without complaint.
Should work on any newer version of proton, since the installer is bypassed entirely.
I've got the "Invalid ACL" problem too, but managed to run the game installing the dependencies through protontricks:
protontricks 865540 vcrun2019
It crashes before start trying to install some Microsoft VIsual C++ or Unreal Engine component. "0x80070532 - Invalid ACL"
Fails to start after Install Visual C++ Runtime Prompt and Invalid ACL error
Works fine apart from the issue mentioned; stopped working with Proton 5.13-2, but forcing use of Proton 5.0-10 in Properties fixed things
mouse sensitivity was wayyy up in story mode; this seemed to be fixed when I forced it to boot with Proton 5.0-10
No noticeable difference between the Windows and Proton version

Runs like a native game for me. No tweaks needed.

The screensaver kicks in after some time but the game works as expected
