Proton-6.21-GE-2
When using proton 6.3-8 the introduction video would not load. But got into the menu just fine. When running proton experimental the game would not boot. Got the furthest using 6.21-GE-2 which displayed the introduction video correctly and occasionally get you into the class selection screen before disconnecting.
Launch options: +in_terminal 1 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +com_skipSignInManager 1
occasionally rightclick to zoom with the cannon would double trigger the scope animation.
Some notes on my journey to get this game to run on my rig.
- Install the game on your main OS drive. At first I had the game installed on a drive that was being shared with the Windows install on my rig and that just straight up refused to even start the game.
- Nvidia driver 495 crashes our with a VRAM issue upon loading the menu. Downgrading to driver 470 solved this issue.
- Use the
nvidia-smi
command in your terminal to see your "idle" VRAM usage and scale your VRAM pool settings to give yourself some margin so the game doesn't crash out on loading scenes.
Steam achievements would pop the game into windowed mode. Clicking in the window would fix it back to fullscreen.
Framerates around 90fps, considering the hardware it is running on a bit on the low side. But then again don't know how well this game performed on Windows.
Game runs fine out of the box. Make sure to run the windows version as the native linux version does no longer support multiplayer.
Singleplayer campaign works great out of the box.
The cutscenes play upside down, better do a handstand!
