Steam's cloud save doesn't seem to work properly for progress made on Linux. The save files are located at ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/730310/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/KoeiTecmo/Dynasty Warriors 9 for Steam/
(swap ~/.steam/steam
to where your library is), and you can manually sync them between Linux and Windows machines.
Proton-GE is needed for the missing media codecs, otherwise the "movies" will show testcard color bars.
Works out of the box
The game runs poorly on Steam Deck
The default controller configuration from Omega Force works fine but none of the appropriate controller icons display correctly in game. If you use the "Gamepad" controller configuration, controller input does not work at all.
The game runs poorly even at minimum graphics settings. I do not know if this is expected.
Game does not launch, regardless of Proton version
Tested with default, 7.x, 6.x, 5.x, experimental, GE and TKG
I tried disabling movies and tried multiple Proton versions (default, 7.x, 6.x, 5.x, GE and TKG) but nothing worked. Running the game just gives a black screen, or sometimes even fails to launch and crashes back to Steam.
Disabling Fsync significantly improves game performance.
The game itself isn't the best port on Pc, so maybe you'll see low fps even on Windows.
Videos didn't work.
Can be fixed by adjusting launch settings to: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
Temporary slowdowns can occur in sieges during fire arrow volleys.
Video playback will not work and needs to be disabled in the configuration tool before starting the game.
As everybody said here, disable the movie option before play.
Never play this game on window tho, the game itselft lock 30fps and sometimes stuttering on my PC.
I haven't played the game on Windows but, after disabling the opening video, the game seemed to work just fine.
The game hangs when the opening video is enabled
you need to disable movies in the configuration tool otherwise runs fine, slight slowdowns when a lot is on screen until the shaders are cached then all runs just as expected
Like the other dude said, you can enter the main menu if you disable the movie in the configuration tool, but that's as far as you will get. Most of Koei games are borked :/
after disabling the cinematics it goes into the main menu where all sounds except for the background music are missing. it freezes upon the end of the loading screen when trying to go ingame both when starting a new game and when trying to continue a savegame
