Not a Hard or Long Process
You don't need a firm grasp on emulation in order to run this game - no tinkering required.
Game worked out of the box with no tweaks required. Tested with a xbox 360 controller.
I used Proton-7.0rc6-GE-1
The game simply failed to start.
Tried a few different Proton versions. None of them works.
Not tried with controllers. Keyboard worked almost perfect
Game started in full screen but got stuck after some seconds, leading to crash. Needed to be alt+entered to windowed fullscreen in order to continue. Except that, game crashed on me to desktop total of two times
In a couple of levels, game was bugged. Camera failed to follow, input failed to be detected
Works, but a problem with controllers in multiplayer takes most of the intended fun out of it
All game controllers I tested with seemed to get duplicated as though they were 2 controllers each. Making local multiplayer pretty much unplayable, which is the main good part of this game

Works fine with some small exceptions that are covered below.
Sometimes game goes black but replay of the stage brings it back fully functional.
Sometimes characters were doubled per analog sticks.
Used PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% in Launch Options
Some controllers had doubled input. I.e. 2 "players" in game getting input from 1 controller. (Which controllers were bugged varied from run to run. All controllers had the same model (Steam Controller) and had same config on Steam. In my case I had 32+2=8 players for 5 controllers.)*
