Some stuttering happens. Might be due to shader caching.
Flawless experience, aside from the Valve Index incompatibility it's perfectly playable even in multiplayer.
On Valve Index, you can't turn with the controller -- the same thing happens on Windows since the Valve Index is unsupported. You have to turn in real life. This might be a minor annoyance depending on your setup.
I have not experienced the performance problems other reporters say they do. Game is fluid and responsive.
Works flawlessly out of the box.
Please note that on the Valve Index the game does not have turning by controller. It's the same way on Windows, it seems.

Flawless, out of the box experience on my Valve Index.
Beware, it has no thumbstick turning (whether on Windows or Linux).

Valve Index - Terrible performance. Totally unplayable.
Game is totally unplayable due to constant frame stuttering.
Game loads up fine, and works fine (as far as I could tell), but the framerate is so poor that it's completely unplayable.
VR hints are HTC Vive, but Valve Index works fine.
frame drops anytime something new is spawned
performance is still not at acceptable levels.
the game only supports vive wands. controlling the game with knuckles is a bit wonky.
its playable at minimum settings, performance is still sub-par.

Had to use winetricks to install xact to get sound working. Everything works out of the box otherwise.
runs 100% without crashing. but performance is so bad its unplayable.
runs with no tweaks, but performance makes it unplayable.
Disabled my Display Compositor before running, otherwise lag is unbearable. Set WindowMirrorMode=0 in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/436320/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/RawData/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini to save some GPU cycles (not sure if this helps). Stutters initially when loading new models or textures anyhow. Occasional de-sync between left and right screens for a few frames.
Boots into game with no tweaks but the lag makes it unplayable.
HTC Vive. Nothing happens
