Install directshow and wmp9 to play OP
Works without OP/ED and window shaking
Opening and ending movies don't play and are just quietly skipped, viewing them from the gallery fades in and does nothing and fades back out. Shaking the window in windowed mode doesn't activate the easter egg (and therefore achievement), so you have to press P.
Otherwise everything works and can be read all the way through with all achievements unlockable, the movie playback is probably the reason Valve gave it an unsupported rating.
Yes, the 18+ DLC was installed… those scenes work too :)
Works just fine.
Messed with a bunch of options to get it a little more comfortable.
Controls would sometimes not be detected if you launched the game and used the touchscreen to navigate menus instead of the mouse. Switching video modes in-game fixes the issue.
No idea why this is listed as unsupported on deck - the only thing I had to mess with was the controls.
Kiri Kiri Engine games seem to be well supported on Proton. dont see why valve lists this as incompatible
Changed buttons to use Left Mouse Click
Reduce TDP to 5W with no impact on performance
Work's out the box like the rest of the series.
dont forget to nab the dlc for better experience. ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°

Select proton 5.0
protontricks 420110 -q wmp11
Runs like native.
If you use a tiling window manager, moving pointer to the menu (top) can cause it to leave full screen.
Had to install wmd11
Transition cutscenes didn't work properly (froze or blackscreened) until I disabled D3Dmode and enabled low performance mode in advanced options (help>advanced options)
The image would freeze but the voices/sound would continue on cutscenes I could not get any version other than 4.2-9 to work with the cutscenes.
5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
I installed the wmp11
protontricks and I'm using Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST.
The window went haywire resizing itself when I collapsed the menu bar.
The new "wmp11" winetricks verb is required for video cutscenes playback. Install protontricks, then install "wmp11" verb with "protontricks 420110 wmp11". More info about the verb: https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks/pull/1489.
Use "HOST_LC_ALL=ja_JP.utf8 %command%" as the game's launch options to enable Japanese locale for proper fonts display.
To enable Japanese text, use the launch option (for Mint at least) "LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 %command%". For whatever reason, LC_ALL isn't respected, but LANG is. If this isn't sufficient, as it likely won't be, run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales" and check ja_JP.UTF-8 in the list, then confirm to recompile the system's locales with support for ja_JP.UTF-8 added.
Pretty much just works.
Works out of the box
Requires LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 %command% launch option for japanese, videos don't render, same as Vol. 1
Fullscreen doesn't work besides that it runs flawless.
English works, japan need tweaks, fullscreen not working
Running well at 250 fps ingame, 600 fps in menu, though this is way too fast and just wastes energy. Japanese main text don't work in-game, works as sub text though if a custom monospace Japanese font has been selected in the "Display" menu at the top (possibly need to copy fonts into the proton share fonts folder). Chinese text works fine. Sound is buggy right at startup, but fine afterwards. Everything else works fine, fully runs from start of game til end of game with skip function.
