Seems to work totally fine if you use the same fix as Megadimension Neptunia VII (Installing qasf quartz_2010 wmp11 to fix ASF videos), also newer GE versions don't have issues with the video spawning in child windows, I've only played 3 hours so far but it seems to work perfectly videos and all

Fully working under GE-Proton9-4 (startup movies work, no more black screens at launch)
Finally get to play this at 60 fps on a handheld. Works with a little patience getting past the black intro screen.
ActiveMovie window pops up as soon as the game launches. This can be bypassed by using the Deck's Switch Windows feature in the Steam menu. Windows can be switched using the mouse or keyboard in Desktop Mode.
In Handheld mode, set in-game display to Borderless to use up the entire Deck screen. Fullscreen and Windowed mode makes the horizontal black bars appear.
- Coming out of sleep, a Bluetooth controller will not be recognized. I've had better luck with the game recognizing the Deck's gamepad coming out of sleep.
- Upon launch, the touchscreen or a mouse must be used to bypass the intro movie.
Playtime displayed at the save screen was wonky for me, reporting that I played for 5 billion hours.
I tried to run this game last year on my deck but was not successful. With the latest improvements to Proton, I figured I would give it another go.
Running on 4.2-9 worked as another user here suggested (got past the intro movie by tapping on the screen), but the inputs were wonky (for some reason the game thought my analog stick was constantly inputting down).
I decided to try both Proton Experimental and Proton-GE 7-47. Intro movie still does not play and you're met with a black screen upon launch. At first, I couldn't tap the screen to get past the intro movie (other users have reported the same bug). But then I noticed that there were two windows opened. If playing from handheld mode, just press the Steam button, go to the game (from the left side menu) and you'll notice at the bottom there are two windows - ActiveMovie and Monster Monpiece. Just switch to the Monster Monpiece window and you'll be able to skip the intro movie via tapping the screen. If in Desktop mode, you can switch between the two windows that pop up using your mouse.
Once the game is booted up, you can go into the in-game settings menu to change the input to the deck's gamepad. However, you still need to tap the screen or click to get past the intro movie everytime you launch the game.
This game works on both Experimental and Proton-GE 7-47. I played through the first chapter and did not notice any FPS drops. It is buttery smooth so far. I'm pretty ecstatic, as this game is underrated for its card battle gameplay, and now I don't have to deal with choppy frames like on the PS Vita version. Good luck, battlers!
Opening videos were unable to play, had to tap on the screen several times to skip.
Would not work for me on other Proton versions, but seems to play ok on Proton 4.2-9. The opening videos do not play, but can be skipped by tapping the screen several times. On other versions of Proton I tried, tapping either did nothing or crashed the game. I have not played very long, so I am unsure of any other issues that may arise during gameplay.

I tried several Proton versions, none of them worked.
6.5-GE-2 was the most successful, letting me see a "Checking system data" message before getting stuck on the black screen - controller does nothing, and pressing Enter crashes it. 4.11-13 shows an "Unable to initialize steam libraries" error. Other versions I tried either show a black screen for a moment and crash, or just crash right away.

Played over ten hours; game is pretty much perfect out of the box. Only thing is the screen will appear black upon starting: clicking with mouse/gamepad a few times will fix that. (If you want to use a game controller, be sure to switch from keyboard to controller in game config screen.)

Crashed immediately upon starting the game.

Doesn't run no matter what compatibility settings are used.

Crashes immediately upon startup, regardless of compatibility settings used.

My PS4 controller didn't work properly, and the cutscenes didn't play. After switching to keyboard controls and clicking through any cutscenes, everything else worked well.
