On my Archlinux it won't start on regular packaged steam. Both on the laptop with NVIDIA and the desktop with AMD GPU. However it works natively if installed within steam flatpak. You can have both installed simultaneously for the same user, no harm from that. I do not recommend using flatpak for other games because for some it has a performance penalty.
When launching from packaged steam, the native version shows the splash screens then crashes and the proton version just doesn't start.

As i mentioned previously, first of all happy new year!!! second, this game can be launch using the native Flatpak Steam is able to launch the game Steam Linux runtime (native Linux version of the game) but it is MANDATORY to run it with the FLATPAK VERSION OF STEAM since the original/pre-installed version of steam doesn't recognize the launcher a compatible executable of Steam-OS as .sh (.sh being a Native linux executable as AppImage for example) and the system by default it is not-readable the system can't synchronize dependencies between the OS (Steam-OS) and the Game on files, Flatpak version runs at what it looks like at any type of distributions so automatically switches to FLATPAK dependencies instead of In-System dependencies, as i mentioned you previously i hope this resolutions could solve potentials interferences when you try to play more steam decks games on the future :D

As the save files are on %appdata% on windows, when you use this fix you won't be able to cloudsave because nonsteamsaintsrow will have a diffrent proton folder unless you manually add a schorcut path or what is it called in linux.
ExaKel's way to use gog version is working. You don't need to use a whole gog instalation process because all steam files are okay except the .exe for some reason. The only thing you need it to run is main .exe and galaxy.dll. Then if you add it to a game folder and add it as a non steam game and select proton - it works.
Do not replace the oryginal exe and do not run the steam game version - it won't launch anyway but may replace exe back to this witch not working.
oh and ofcourse in this method say godbye to achivments :') BUT IT RUNS!

Native version does not get over the splash logo, proton won't even start without replacing the game's root files. With nocd it finally works.

Like others experienced, the game won't even start. Tried with stock Proton, GE Proton, Proton versions from 3.x to 9.x, etc.

For reasons unknown to me, the game just loads endlessly.
I tried running with Proton, all versions do not give results.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Removed preset from display.ini in the game directory and replaced it with: ResolutionWidth = 2560 ResolutionHeight = 1080 RefreshRate = 60 MSAA_Level = 8 Fullscreen = true
Then copied the display.ini to ".local/share/vpltd/SaintsRow4GooH"
I replaced the Steam version files with the GOG version and with the mentioned tinkering it is working now.

Game splash starts but doesn't come any further
Native does not work and any Proton doesn't do anything either

Lowered TDP to 10W.
I used GOG's backup installer and installed via Lutris and then added it as a non-steam game. it loads and runs fine.

Haven't managed to make it work in Proton, as pointed out by the GitHub report and the others ProtonDB reports.
Crackling during video cutscenes AND real-time gameplay. Not in the menu.
Just a little note, and perhaps also on the other platforms. The intro cutscene was cut into a small window at the center of the screen, despite having the game in full screen with a correct set resolution. Other cutscenes showed fine.

Crackling during video cutscenes AND real-time gameplay. Not in the menu. Forcing the game to run in “Steam Linux Runtime” seems to have fixed it.

Although the game was great performance wise but the memory leaks and texture degrations make it frustrating to play
Changed various values listed bellow ShadowDetail = 0 SceneDetail = 0 Reflections = 0 PostProcess = 0
The games audio would start crackling during cutscenes.
The longer I played the textures got more and more borked until it crashes due to running out of ram.
All sides of the screen had little sections not filled by the game.
Slight lag while flying/driving nothing to laggy.
As mentioned above the games textures will degrade before running out of ram
Had a car floating in midair and a enemy inside the floor.
completely broken
gamemoderun
Native version crashes after intro videos. Launching the Windows version through Proton freezes Steam with a "finishing installation" message. This lasts about two minutes, then an error message appears saying, "The Steam servers are busy at this time. Please try again later."
All - literally all - of my other installed games run fine after receiving this message. (My other installed games include easy-to-run games like Shadow of Mordor, but also tricky games like Assassin's Creed Revelations. Both launched without issue after receiving the "busy server" message).
The GOG version, installed via Wine and run through Lutris, launches and plays without issue. This is a rare case of Steam's framework being literally broken.
Same issue as I mentioned in my last report from my Desktop. Native crashes after launch video, Steam refuses to launch the Proton version
I have the "Enable Steam Play for all other titles" box checked with Proton Experimental in Steam Play settings so I'm not sure whether I'm playing with Proton Experimental or natively, but the game seems to run great. Tried running with the Steam Linux runtime and it also worked fine.
Native was broken. All Proton versions didn't work.
- Arch Linux
- Native is not working
- Tried almost every single of those Proton versions and options but non of them work
- The game is broken in everyway.
borked
tried a lot nothin worked, strange since all other saints row worked like charm...
Tried default, multiple proton versions + experimental, and multiple GE proton versions. Nothing I have tried has been successful in even running the game.
Steam unable to "Complete installation"
Not sure why, but after installing and pressing on the play button, Steam pops up with a box sayng "Completing installation..." and sits there doing nothing.
Native opens fine, but of course crashes as soon as the intro is over, as is usual of most Saints Row games
Crash to desktop after all the intros
I tried a lot of things, multiple proton versions, including GloriousEggroll's. I tried some command lines (gamemoderun or so)
Borked for native and Proton

Game will not run, Native or with Proton
Tried running native and every version of proton (including GloriousEggroll) and nothing works, the game crashes after trying to launch it.
The game startet as expected with Proton 5.13-6. Menu loads and is displayed correctly. InGame works all fine :)
Doesn't start
Native version is also fucky

- 4.2-9 not start 2)3.16-9 not start 3)3.7-8 not start 4)4.2-9 + different combinations of [PROTON_NO_ESYNC, PROTON_NO_D3D11, PROTON_NO_D3D10, PROTON_USE_WINED3D] not start
