Initial movie was just black and had audio static noise.
Turn shadows to medium/low, set 40Hz refresh rate. Limit TDP as needed.
Great experience on deck, but I had to set it to GE proton to work. I initially tried proton experimental which gave me a black screen. The games effects can tank FPS (even on low), so setting an FPS cap can smooth out performance.

I used the epic games version using heroic The game worked without issue using the lated GE Proton release after installing DLLs, xact and xact-x64, with protontricks.

City of Brass funziona ma bisogna usare Wine e c'è bisogno di scaricare due DLL: xact e xact-x64. Inoltre, lo sfondo nel menu non viene visualizzato e al suo posto abbiamo uno sfondo bianco e purtroppo scaricare mf non risolve il problema, anzi, non fa partire il gioco.

Runs great; Media Foundation is interfering with opening animations, but these have nothing to do with gameplay and aren't a major issue.
Opening animations don't seem to work; mf-install works for some but just gave me a white background; otherwise it works great!

The game crashes when initializing fullscreen. Works fine with borderless windowed mode.
The performance lags behind windows a bit, but after turning Antialiasing off, it works like a charm. I've been playing with VKD3D enabled, but I'm not sure if there is much of a performance difference between it and DXVK. Also, the intro video does not play, but it can be disabled per this wiki page. The menu videos do work.
Intro movies won't work, but you can bypass them and make the game start and work flawlessly. Simply follow the commands: cd $HOME mv .local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/City\ Of\ Brass/COB/Content/Movies .local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/City\ Of\ Brass/COB/Content/Movie-backup
Game refuses to launch, including after installing xact with protontricks; not sure why. Attempted three versions of Proton including 3.7-8 and 4.2-9; and more recently 4.11-6; none helped. I get a black screen with just the mouse, followed by a dump to my desktop.

Playing Epic Store free version, game is missing some libraries to work. What you need to do is install Epic Store through lutris using lutris website script. Then install City of Brass through the Epic Store and then apply this fix in the wineprefix

Remember to change the script last two lines according to where your wineprefix is located. The game itself runs perfectly after that (1 hour test), performance is less than Win$.
