Still works after all these years, if you'd rather play the original over the sequel. Growing up is tough.
I noticed a tiny bit of crackling that occurred at one point, but never heard any after that.

you just need touchpad or mouse to click play at the beginning, after choosing resolution

Old Unity startup launcher, no controller support
Surprisingly the game has controller support! At least it does once you get past the starting launcher. Using controller allows you to access all functionality in the game...EXCEPT zooming in/out. My solution has been to map a scroll wheel to the left trackpad for zooming and a mouse/click to the right trackpad for the launcher, thus allowing you to access all functionality without pulling up the keyboard or using the touchscreen. I might share the configuration later, so check community configs to see if I did. Anyway, after that, game runs at a perfect 60 and does everything you'd want it to. Recommended, surprisingly!

Install "mesa-vulkan-intel-32bit" and "mesa-vulkan-overlay-layer-32bit" packages

Perfect
Game works OOTB with both WineD3D and D9VK. D9VK may have better performance at higher resolutions.
D9VK now on par with WineD3D DX9 in this title, could help at higher resolutions

D9VK bundled with Proton 4.11 now correctly renders effects like fog and haze with Proton 4.11-3. Enable by entering the launch option "PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%"

D9VK as of the recent "fixed function" implementations now works with the game! Recommended way to try D9VK is to let the current Proton create the initial prefix, then upgrade to Proton-4.11-GE-1 with the installation instructions from GloriousEggroll's Github.

Controller works once manually set to "controller on." Flawless otherwise. Custom logos (windowed mode recommended when first setting custom logos) and Steam Workshop levels just work.

Just click play and enjoy. Played a bit and could not find any bug.

Only encountered a couple minor graphical and audio glitches. Otherwise works perfectly.

Works perfectly
Tried all tweaks, crashed on startup.

Workshop levels work in the latest Proton 3.16 betas. Custom PNGs work too. Ran completely fine.

Everything worked fine except workshop levels.

Everything runs perfectly, even file loading for custom heads etc.; Tested several maps

Native Performance. A little weirdness when picking files; doesn't affect stablity.
