Crashes randomly on Steam Deck VR, runs fine on Desktop mode.
Resonite freezes and locks up inconsitently.
ALVR and Quest 3 were used.
This game engine works under linux
Played it once
mangohud %command% -Screen -SkipIntroTutorial
Microphone occasionally starts cutting out
Linux Native is unsupported, Windows build through Proton is the better way to run Resonite on Linux
__GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
VR mode have some problems - desktop mode is smooth
Native version can't run on VR for some unknown reason.
The tutorial world is playable. Graphics are as pretty as advertised and stuttering is not a significant issue.
Switched from noveau driver to nvidia
Severe missing textures until switching drivers
Cloud saving error, though this is most certainly due to a low quality wifi adapter
File browser lists a number of directories but no files are in any of them
This is a fine way to access Resonite if you just want to attend an event outside VR or do some light exploring. Everything else is too much
You won't be able to use the inspector with this setup lol
It runs REALLY bad
Set max FPS to 20 for a smoother experience
Native works better than proton in desktop mode, but hard crashes computer in vr. Proton has worse performance but doesn't crash in vr.
gamemoderun mangohud MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=90,fps_limit_method=late,vram,horizontal,background_alpha=0" %command% -high -useallavailablecores -LoadAssembly Libraries/ResoniteModLoader.dll
This could be an ALVR issue, but I did not hear any sound while in game
The native linux build hard crashes my entire pc only when running in vr mode
(I put -useallavailablecores in the launch options, but I'm not sure if it works in games outside of helldivers 2. Because of this I don't reccomend putting it in the launch options, I just can't remove it from the protondb launch options list.)
Aside from the previous crashing issues, the game runs fine if run in desktop mode. The proton version doesn't crash in vr, but has worse performance in desktop and probably vr (I couldn't really compare the two in vr). If the game doesn't crash in vr, it has significantly worse performance regardless of which version is being used.
The mods I used are: EffortlessEfficiency, HeadCullingMask, and ResoniteIKCulling.
Works fine natively, could use a lot of performance improvements in VR
Some Z-Fighting on some surfaces
Lag spikes and below average performance in VR, even in the starting world.
Definitely perfectly enjoyable in PC/Screen mode, but it performs quite poorly comparatively in VR, the thing it was designed for.
Made actually playable again on Linux natively.
Fixed by turning VSync on
The Linux Native version is unusable due to misusage of raw OpenGL calls in Unity, the game is a buggy mess otherwise
-DoNotAutoLoadHome
The game loves to steal window focus for absolutely no reason during startup, and this has the potential to completely lock up the desktop environment and require restarting the whole system
Game runs like crap no matter what system you use, including on Windows, it's only moderately usable with AMD X3D CPUs
There are lots of bugs, but the game is a buggy mess no matter what platform you play on
Depending on what region you're from, sessions will be unacceptably laggy, but this is a universal issue not exclusive to Linux
You can technically play this game fine, but it's in an extremely rough state, no matter what platform you're on, and the Linux version is doubly neglected. I have to play the game and tolerate the bugginess, I've got personal obligations, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else in the state it's in.
mangohud gamemoderun %command% -LoadAssembly Libraries/ResoniteModLoader.dll
some images have a strange black artifact on them for a few seconds after loading
forced to lower the resolution by a lot in VR, Windows in a VM was only better by ~15 fps
tends to eventually crash in heavier sessions when in VR, usually proceeded by a massive lag spike, takes down SteamVR with it
./run_bepinex.sh %command% -donotautoloadhome
~40-60fps in desktop and ~30-40fps in vr
-autoconfig
I could not start the game with default proton
-autoconfig
Does not launch in VR.
-LoadAssembly Libraries/ResoniteModLoader.dll -DoNotAutoLoadHome
Low 20 FPS in big worlds, Local world gets 60
Either Resonite crashes to desktop, or it shows the default Unity crash window
Linux native version can work (Need to LD_PRELOAD a library to fix rendering and patch a library that was built for windows only so that syncing can work), but i'd recomend waiting for all the bugs to get ironed out before switching away from proton
Other then that, great game! Have had tons of fun meeting new people and will continue to do so!
it is hanging for 2-5 seconds occasionally after start, but it gets less and less the longer I play.
Says it runs natively on Linux, but shows black screen, after loading screen. So switched to Proton Experimental, which works. I haven't tested any VR capabilities under Linux, yet. only Desktop mode.
