The game runs great but requires a lot of control setup if you don't use a community layout.
Made my own control scheme for keyboard mode.
TDP set to 4 watts, GPU set to 400 MHz, FPS set to 30
Some sound effects would continue playing indefinitely until restarting the game. Also apparently some of the OST is missing.
Installed wrace SR1 patch through desktop mode. Used "Windowed Mode" in new SR1 launcher to make videos work in steam deck "Gaming Mode".
Original launcher does not support steam deck input very well.
Videos would not play in fullscreen mode. Used windowed mode to work around it.
Added SR1 Patch + Cinematics + Music
Swapped Function from Bumpers to Triggers and added Zoom / Controlled aim to bumpers (Look for my layout under the name of Lucius Seneca)
5W TDP
Weird visual glitches when transportation gates activates and switches portals
When in Fullscreen it won't show cinematics, run on windowed mode
You can get the patches using this URL:

Just extract and copy and paste into the game folder.
For newbies just go to the properties of the game in steam, select "local files" and click on the button to show the local files folder, and copy all the files there.
You will need the SR1 patch to get some options like windowed mode and unlocking 60fps.
You will need the new cinematics for the subtitles to load in them.
Audio is optional for those who want to use the music and audios from the Dreamcast release, they are a bit different.
Music volume becomes inconsistant during dialogue
Runs fine with patch.
Installed Soul Reaver Enhanced patch + intro + music files from https://steamcommunity.com/app/224920/discussions/0/2837788120352512948/
Set to 5W
Game works perfect including the cutscenes (Proton-7.2-GE-2 fixed the cutscenes)

The resolution should be set every time that the game is started. Also the game is capped at 30 fps. To uncapped the game and fix some bugs use the patch https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Legacy_of_Kain:_Soul_Reaver#Wrace.27s_SR1_Patch
The game work with minimal tinkering, i.e. setting the correct Proton version (for CG movies playback) and controller config.
You may have to select the correct resolution in the launcher each time you start the game, otherwise it defaults to 640x480, 16bit depth.

Game works perfect using Proton>5.x version(I suppose too which using a lower version) but by using 5.0-10 you have not any issue with the cinematics.
Old but work (except videos)
Game has no window mode
Played with Proton 6.3-8

Game runs ok but it would be nice if the movies could play and better controller support (this may be a windows issue?)
The controller would sometimes move a input but it was not doing much. I was using a XBOX 360 controller!
The intro movies did not play.
Works amazing! Thank you. tested under Proton 3.16-9
You need to pick specific video render in order to videos / cinematics to display..

Did not even get to Title / Menu screen
The preparing to run window appears and shows as running in Steam for a few seconds with the option to 'Cancel' appearing in the main Steam library. Then the preparing to run window closes and after a second or two the 'Cancel' button changes to the 'Run' button. Shows as having run below in the Activity pane. But never actually launches.
worked fine. no issues, just a bit old

Runs perfectly out of the box. Zero issues.
The start up videos showing the publisher and developer doesn't work though you will hear the audio of it. Pressing ESC a couple times to skip past them will get you to the main menu of the game and from there it should display properly without issue.
I'm using a PS4 controller connected to my PC via Bluetooth. Switching the controls from keyboard to gamepad in the options menu allowed me to control the game just like it would be on an original PS1, zero issues.
Minor annoyance that you can't use the DPAD to control Raziel. But considering the headache it takes to get this game using a dpad under Windows, I can live with it.
Alt tabbing works fine and does not break or crash the game at all.
Overall, ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSED that this game works right out of the box. Zero issues or concerns with it.

Works well
Played with Proton 5.0-7
Game does not work at all on any proton version past 4.2

Gamepad also works basically out of the box. Had to remap most of the buttons in game, but not a big deal. Runs perfectly fine overall.
Must use Proton 4.2 to play the game, using 4.11 will make game crash at start. Could be a bug in the version of Wine being used as with 4.21 staging from Fedora the game was running fine.

No issues

everything works fine.

Needs to start, and then quit before FMVs will play, but this old high school favorite of mine works FAR better than in the Windows version (which needed numerous patches just to start). Also, via my Hori Fighting Commander, the game plays just as if it was on the original PS1.
Even the fan patches provided in the discussions have made it even nicer.

Tried this as an old favorite of mine, but just too broken to play.
First tried at 4k resolution, native on my display(s), but simply made sound, and stuttrered through the intro until I killed the process.
Game launches at 1080p, but no intro FMV, or most of the intro. You eventually get to non pre-rendered scenes that work, but controllers don't seem to function either using a ps4 controller under linux that normally works ok. I can map keys in it, change buttons, but then they don't work in-game. It wasn't worth trying to play via keyboard.
I will experiment more with it, hopefully can be made to work, I love this game from on old days.

The game works out of the box. All intro videos, sounds are perfect. But after 10-15 minutes the game unexpectedly crashes and quit to desktop. I have tried other graphic options at the start up but nothing changes.

The game itself works well. But it does not show logos and videos, only sound. And it does not save the settings of the game, you must re-set each time you enter

Game works fine but looks like it's not playing cut-scenes.

Played the first 3 levels perfectly, no lag, jitter or skipping

Flawless.

Runs perfectly.

Works better than the Windows version out of the box. Set controls to keyboard and use a community profile

I could never get this running right on Windows but it's flawless with Proton. Using the community controller configs it's perfect.

No noticeable issues
