Some UI elements
The game intro video upon game launch has no audio. All other scenes have no audio issues
Suggest you use external monitor and M&K for best experience. All max settings and it barely uses 2W on CPU/GPU combined.

Newer Proton versions did not work as expected for me. Proton GE 9.2 did not allow me to enter the game (there was a total freeze on startup with a black screen). Proton 8.0-5 allowed me to enter the game menu, but when I tried to start a new game, the app closed by itself. The same thing happened with Proton Experimental. In the end, I just chose the Proton 6.3-8 option and everything worked as it should: the game runs without any problems (all FMVs also play correctly). Totally playable without any problems now.

Removed some of the game's assets
Game couldn't play any pre-rendered videos, which includes demonstrations that play in the level up menu. This often led to the game crashing on said menu. Solved by removing related wmv videos from the games data dir (/path-to-games-library/Fable The Lost Chapters/data/Video/), specifically those starting with "exp" and "gui."
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
rename videos/gui_spell_*.wmv rename videos/exp_spend_*.wmv The game crashes in the level up menu sometimes. Renaming these fixes that but there are no videos of the spells, skills, etc.
rename intro_comp.wmv, lionhead_logo.wmv, microsoft_logo.wmv This is just so you don't have to hit escape three times to get to the game. There will be a warning though.
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Game hangs at the start of the intro FMV with Proton-8.0-2, runs fine with Proton-5.0-10 but unable to play FMVs.

Single crash when upgrading skills.
Standard Proton 7 fails to display videos, but those are skippable. GE version fixes that. The save problem some people had is a feature of the game. It has 2 kinds of saves - "hero" and "world". During a quest, only "hero" save is available, which does not save quest progress. Tutorial works as a quest, so you have to go through it in one sitting.
Mapped left trackpad to 1-9 hotbar
UI tiny on native resolution, UI artifacts on lower resolutions
everything works perfectly
add PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% to launch option and the
Runs great with default Proton though without FMVs. Use Proton GE to fix it.
Working right out of the box. Just no FMV's are working.
No FMV. Must be a bink video codec issue.
Functioning as I'd expect it to be. Video playback does not work, but this will not be much of a detriment to the overall experience.
Video playback does not work.

Proton GE fixes the FMV, but the controller crash still remains and save files are wonky.
Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Weird crash when you disconnect and reconnect your gamepad.
Wouldn't load my game back to where I saved. I saved before giving my sister the chocolates, but I will start back at the intro fmv
Game runs and plays phenomenally despite missing fmv cutscenes
No fmv cutscenes, but rendered cutscenes play fine.
Installs and launches but significant audio missing and save games broken
There appears to be no music at all (or only very occasionally). During some cut-scenes some of the dialogue and/or sound effects are missing.
Could save multiple times and overwrite previous saves, but attempting to load a save game only loads the first autosave of the game
- Upon launch, presents a warning stating system does not have enough RAM or virtual memory to run the game. Launches anyway without issue
- The opening cutscene (pre-game) throws a playback error 0x80040218 but a game can still be started
- Due to the missing audio and save game issue, the game is currently unplayable (unless you could complete in a single playthrough)
The music is a big part of the Fable experience, without it doesn't feel right.
Music doesn't work except on menu
I used my go-to launch option, "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" Crash as soon as a forward key, W, was pressed.
As soon as the game proper started, and I hit W to go forward, the game crashed.
Maybe. The Graphics and FPS are Great, but the audio and cut scenes are messed up. I used 4.11-13 as 5.0-5 wouldn't work.
Music works for a while then it stops then only the voices and sound effects work then no audio at all.
Videos don't work. I wasn't able to launch with Proton 5.0-5 the game would give me a warning about not having enough ram. I used 4.11-13 the game would give me a warning about my vram before launching, but it worked anyway.
Disabling Esync didn't really help with the audio.

Game worked perfectly using steam proton 5.0-3.
I was able complete this game and unlock all achievements. I also played this game using an Xbox 360 controller without any issue.

Game runs. No videos though. Sound is sometimes missing. I can save once - but subsequent saves fail regardless if overwriting or creating a new save. If I use Steam's 'Verify Integrity of Game Files...' feature there is always one file that fails and must be reacquired. My Wacom Cintiq Monitor's USB cord must be unplugged in order to navigate through in game menus. Otherwise the focused option automatically scrolls to the uppermost option in the menu. Hopefully the Anniversary edition has better results.

Game runs, however the fps is bad, the refresh rate doesn't seem to apply (game offers up to 100hz) and controls are not smooth at all. All music and pre-rendered videos don't play. I guess it is possible to finish playing the game though.

Game runs fine, however videos and background music do not play. The game will skip over videos entirely. Fully playable otherwise as far as I can tell, made it past Oakvale which was not possible on older versions of Wine.

intro video doesn't work and mouse and keyboard cant be used at same time but otherwise runs perfect.

No intro videos, but game runs otherwise

Game performs very well. Audio in cutscenes sometimes goes missing, and the intro video doesn't play.

I ran it but it would'nt start any cutscenes and only half the screen would display the game.

Starts and runs otherwise perfectly but with a few minor inconveniences. Sometimes audio is missing in cut scene dialogue (works again after going to the pause menu). Also the intro video in the beginning does not work (missing player program/codec?). Also crashed a couple of times with no error (game just disappears).
After looking through the games files it seems that NONE of the actual cut-scene videos are played (hadn't seen any of them).

Crash a lot, sometimes I can play about 30 minutes, sometimes after a minute it quit.

FMVs wont play and crashes happen randomly.

The Game itself run flawlessly out of the box. The only issue I've run into was the intro video doesn't play. It errors out and you have to hit okay. Once you hit okay that the game runs great.

FMVs wont play, in-games plays and renders correctly, but it will randomly crash.

Run with warnig message about no graphic card memory, game launch, play few minutes and crash, seems to be playable with low resolution, but not sure

Was going to be a silver, but this game freezes the system now.

runs perfectly in gameplay, but the opening video cannot be played

Crashes every few minutes

Looks perfect. 1920x1080, full detail, about 100fps

Runs ok, 1920x1080 fullscreen. Gameplay works, but crashed with no error during combat approx. 30 minutes into play
