Set screen resolution to 720p in your OS to play fullscreen in the game with 60fps. With hardware limitations like my computer.
Your purification at hand will not be impeded by compatability issues!
Beginning cutscene and initial company splash screens would not display no matter which variant of proton I attempted. Switching to windowed fullscreen resolved this issue.
I was able to complete this game with no issues running it in windowed fullscreen at 1440p resolution. Mouse and keyboard works well and keys are rebindable although there is no mouse support on menu screens.
If sales has garnered your curiosity enough to the point of considering purchase by perusing the proton compatability here then I can say without a doubt that while this is not Valkyrie Profile 3, it's a comptetent old school hack and slash that gets quite fun once the valkyrie's initial skills are upgraded.
Works flawlessly
Small sidenote: The mod that removes the weird film grain filter causes water to flicker in crazy colours which might cause seizures. Other mods worked fine.
Game is stable, around 30-40 fps.
Limited fps to improve battery
Played using GE Proton 7.53 and was able to get Cutscenes to display, however tutorial graphics still failed to display.
Game runs well @30-40 FPS with some tweaks. Cutscenes work with GE Proton 7.53 only tutorial images dont display
Game works flawlessly outside of video playback
Video playback does not work
Had no issues running the game from beginning to end as far as gameplay goes.
The videos however do not play back, this affects the intro cutscene, the small tutorial videos, and the end credits. There's about 2 or 3 additional videos similar to the intro cutscene that will display a white screen as well. The subtitles will still display however, and the small pop-up windows for the tutorials all have text detailing the tutorial, so they won't prevent you from knowing what's happening nor will it prevent understanding the game and how to play. The in-game cutscenes all work perfectly fine (which is how the majority of the story points are shown).
Videos and tutorials are broken and the experience suffers heavily given the kind of game. Wait for a fix
Cutscenes and tutorial prompts don't play which seriously ruins the experience
The game has drops even on medium setting which the deck should be able to handle. Cap at 40fps
MANGOHUD=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Ran fine at 60FPS, DLSS works too and I haven't experienced slowdowns except when spamming high level spells near the end of the game.
some pre-rendered cutscenes will only show a white screen (with sound and text). There are only a couple and they are very short so it didn't bother me much.
The loss of the cut scenes and tutorial contexts diminishes the experience. Without the tutorial clips being rendered, you're left guessing.
Tutorial / Help videos do not render. Cut scenes do not render.
Opening and tutorial videos won't play.
You have to play with the settings to get at least good performance - 40Hz is the way to go.
All the movies / tutorials were just a white screen with subtitles, the videos were never visible.
set to 40hz mode and drop settings to low
major fps drop ongames medium setting. set to low settings (ambient o, shadows=mid, draw distance, tex=high) for mostly stable 40hz
video playback and tutorial images do not display
The initial cut scene and the tutorial movies do not play
Other than the inital new game scene showing all white and the tutorial videos not loading the game runs fine. I set graphics to highest and I am still getting 55+ FPS.
Game launches to blank screen and immediately CTDS with default proton as well as experimental
Ubuntu Kinetic - steam snap and deb both affected
