I had to enter a launch command because the game opens on a small window by default, and I preffered to play it full screen.
-fullscreen
The launching command that I qouted in this review is a must if you wish to play this game full screen. If you don't bother by playing on a relatively small window, then you can launch the game as it comes by default.
PS: If you play using a controller on Linux Mint 22.1 you'll need to adjust the "energy management" settings of your system and turn off the counter for screen suspension or blackout. For some reason my PC doesn't detect my controller's activity and asumes my computer is sitting idle... I thing this is more a Linux Mint problem, than a Steam one, but I'm ignorant on how these things work on an OS.
Just click play and enjoy, nothing weird to tinker.

Screen would flicker when alt tab to other window
Crashes on rare occasion
99% of it worked fine, I am now 60 hours in and am satisfied with the performance.

Somente Tela preta.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
- O comando de inicialização adicionado aumenta a velocidade de carregamento do jogo
- O mesmo hardware consegue abrir e jogar o programa sem dificuldades técnicas.

Lots of text, all readable, even for someone with bad eyesight like I do. Completed the full game in about 32 hours, no issues at all
Runs perfectly well
Works perfectly out of the box

Works perfectly out of the box
Finished the game with no issues just like Octopath Traveler
40hz refresh rate

Works perfectly out of the box ! (Of course ^^)
Works perfectly out of the box !
No problems to be found here
Just enjoy the game!
Aside from the on screen markers occasionally switching to keyboard instead of controller buttons, it plays great with default everythin
To avoid occasional dips to fps in the 50s on max settings you can just set the refresh rate to 50 for steady fps and slightly better battery life.
Worked great out of the box
Game was working fine for 2 months now. Since the last game update the game is crashing in the starting screen - it returns an UE_4_Triangle_Strategy (Unreal Engine) error.
- Game crashes in start screen after 3-5 seconds of inactivity
- Game crashes when trying to load a save file
- Game crashes when trying to start a new game.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem?
Initially kept stating that C++ needed to be installed, and click "Install" resulted in the game closing. Switching the GE fixed this.
"Ghost inputs" have sometimes been detected, for example, I could be in a menu, and the cursor moves up a couple of menu items.
In Proton 7.0 the game could not be played, a message box asking for a C++ library to be installed would be presented, and then when clicking install the app closed. Launching the game using GE-Proton resolved the issue.
The game is very demanding from a GPU perspective on high settings, which is surprising when it looks pretty similar to Octopath Traveler. Without fiddling you will be lucky to get more than 2 hours battery life on high settings, and won't get a constant 60fps (I was getting a max of 52). Lowering the quality of the graphics, or switching to FSR would be an idea if you want good better battery life.
The game also constantly defaults to showing the keyboard controls on screen, not controller. As soon as you press a button (not use the analogue sticks) this changes for the current dialogue/battle, but it's frustrating that it will random switch back to showing keyboard controls. I don't know if that's a "feature" unique to the Steam Deck, Proton, or just PC players in general; hopefully it's a bug in the game itself. From a developer perspective (as in SE) they could simply make a game option where you can choose a default game input device for on-screen prompts.
Game crashes on main menu
Trying a different proton version, no conclusion yet.
I did have to restart after applying resolution change and the screen flashes black whenever I alt-tab or use my second monitor, but working beautifully otherwise
Works out of the box
Using proton experimental. Completed the first battle and the intro movie played without issue.
Works as you would expect, no issues.
The last proton GE run the game perfecto.
Very easy, working OOB. Launched, viewed cutscenes, audio sounds fine, completed first battle. Will update if any future issues arise
game craches after selecting difficulty
Game shows black screen for about 1 minute and then crashes
unreal engine crash reporter pops up and then disappears
