Doesn't launch unless you change the prefix to the main game's. I followed the instructions from Patola's report and got it to work.
Had to change the game's prefix

If you apply my procedure, the game runs flawlessly, no issues.
The game won't start if you just click play, so don't to it the first time. For it to work, it has to be in the same WINEPREFIX as Spore. To accomplish that: 1 - first install Spore, run it, fill in the settings, exist; 2 - install SPORE Creepy & Cute Parts Pack (using the same Steam Library Folder, that is, don't change the library; by default steam installs in the same library as before if you don't select other), but don't run it.
Then, go to the library compatdata directory. If it's home, it's ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata
; if it's something else, say /games
, it's /games/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata
-- and then link this game appid (17440) to the spore appid (17390), e.g.
cd ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata;
rm -rf 17440;
(this is just to erase any remaining wineprefix for this game)
ln -s 17390 17440
(this links spore and this game together)

Solution for Linux Mint 20 found! How to launch Spore: Creepy&Cute on Linux Mint 20
To run Spore: Creepy&Cute on Linux Mint 20, follow these steps:
- First make Spore: Creepy&Cute run with Proton 4.11-13;
- Now go this path:
~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/17440/pfx/
- Open system.reg
- Just place the following lines in that file (anywhere between other stacks of lines that you're going to find there):
[Software\\Wow6432Node\\electronic arts\\spore] 1627191375
#time=1d78116fc363040
"appdir"="Spore"
"datadir"="Z:\\home\\YOUR_USERNAME\\.steam\\debian-installation\\steamapps\\common\\Spore\\Data"
"installcompleted"=dword:00000001
"installloc"="Z:\\home\\YOUR_USERNAME\\.steam\\debian-installation\\steamapps\\common\\Spore"
"locale"="en-us"
"playerdir"="My Spore Creations"
"reindexyesorno"=dword:00000000
- Replace YOUR_USERNAME with your username.
- Now go this path:
~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Spore/bp1content/
- Copy BoosterPack_01.package and paste it in
~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Spore/Data/
This is it! You will now have additional content added in 'Creature' creator. And if you've got trouble with running Spore on Linux, please refer to Spore on GitHub. I did, and I got the solution!
If you are to install Spore: Galactic Adventures, you will encounter other problems, so follow my report on Spore: Galactic Adventures here, on ProtonDB.

Two errors and one problem to solve on Linux Mint 20.1 before you can play this expansion!
Ladies and gentlemen, this is terrible! My OS is Linux Mint 20.1 and this game doesn’t seem to set up files properly or something, which makes it unable to play this game because every time you launch this DLC, it launches the original Spore instead. Let alone the 1004 and 2000 errors that you will have to encounter before you even get to the start of the problem.
Due to my report being too long for ProtonDB to accept, I have posted my full report on Steam Discussions: https://steamcommunity.com/app/24720/discussions/0/5005182950316001925/
You will find it useful if you encounter several issues I encountered.
Wouldn't launch: Error "Could not find the default preferences. The data directory is missing or corrupt. [1004]". Fixed by adding string entry in CC reg.
Entry:
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432node\Electronic Arts\SPORE\datadir
Value:
Z:\absolute\path\to\steam\steamapps\common\Spore\Data
After that, works perfect.
I found this fix at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/514#issuecomment-416420377
Idk what the other reports are talking about when they say it works by launching the other versions of spore, I tried with vanilla and it wouldn't work.
You can't play this, its just a DLC for Spore or Spore Galactic Adventures executables

Works perfectly (in the sense of being DLC and adding content); Start from Spore or Spore Galactic Adventures

Runs out of the box

Launch from either Spore or Spore: Galactic Adventures

Error message at start, then starts but stays black.

to start use Spore: Galactic Adventures' or Spore's play button
