Game runs perfect.

Audio stutters during load. (E.g. during shader compilation.)
Bright blue orb randomly appears in the middle of the screen.
Game runs slightly slower than on my Windows machine, which has lower specs.
Regular deadlocks (black screen) after leaving the first village. These do not occur on my Windows machine.
On Proton 8.0-5 there are micro lags every 10 seconds but on proton 9.0-2 (newes official one) the issue does occur.

gamemoderun %command%
very slight lag in some areas, not sure if proton or game

Cut scenes stutter just enough to be noticed.

limit to 40fps
minor textur pop in and little bit flickrting anti aliasing. Nothing bad though
micro stuttering and minor texture pop in
stable so far.

DE: Beim starten des Spiels tretten anfangs leichte Ruckler auf (liegt evtl. am Aufbau / erzeugen der Shader)
EN: When starting the game, there are slight stutters at the beginning (possibly due to the construction / creation of the shaders)

"DX12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument"
Couldn't get the game to launch at all using tweaks & arguments from ProtonDB and Proton forum posts etc.

Worked well with Proton Experimental (default version not tested). Unlock graphical settings for improved performance.

It worked well without tinkering by using Proton Experimental and capped FPS at 40, but battery drain was significant. I didn't try mainline Proton versions or GE.
A Reddit search pointed me to settings defined in SteamDeckHQ. It seems to perform a bit smoother now.
Graphical settings (after unlocking them via command line options) as suggested in the notes.
Nothing significant and I could increase text size in the game settings.

“Select the default wineprefix” and click OK Select “Install a Windows DLL or component” and click OK Selected and install “vcrun2022” Then you will also want to select and install “mspatcha”
Textures would load in a bit late. This was during the October 2023 Steam Next Fest demo though, so I would hope the final game doesn't have this issue. Also when the tutorial videos would repeat they looked to be in a different codec as it would be greenish and not display correctly; initial tutorial video plays fine.
Sometimes in the menus a Controller D-pad was ignored, but this is a known issue in the demo.
Needed to turn off Lumen lighting and Set to mostly Medium (High with FSR2) to get a solid 120hz. Was always about 60Hz unless Lumen was turned on even at Epic. GPU would go to 99%.
This report is only for the Demo out during the October 2023 Steam Next Fest. There are graphics settings for Steam Deck, so I am hopeful there won't be need for protontricks with the full release. I wanted to provide this post for the DEMO version for anyone else looking to play it before full release, and who knows maybe this will be helpful post-release too.
Working out of the box
small visual problems with tutorial videos

"Select the default wineprefix" and click ok. "Install a Windows DLL or component" and click OK Select the "vcrun2022" package and click OK
NOTE: You might get other errors, but the Demo (available during the October 2023 Steam Next Fest) will play fine after this is installed.

Seemed to run with no frame cap, so the GPU was at 99% the whole time and sometimes I would see a "hitch" but otherwise was very smooth. This was during the October 2023 Steam Next Fest demo though, so I would hope the final game doesn't have this issue.
