The game deserves a platinum honestly, as it does not have any major bugs, works good and performant, no tinkering needed
Limited FPS to 40
Some artifacts can be observed
Minor stutterings when device is cold started
Give it a platinum, silver doesn't cut it at all

For best battery performance while also not compermising graphics quality too much, Low Preset was used while on the go
Forza will randomly hitch for a breif momment before contuning on like nonthing happened, This happens no matter the Quality preset which leads me to think it might be a proplem with the game itself or proton
The steam deck can easliy handle up to the High Quality preset, and can (somewhat smoothly) run on Ultra. My recomendation is to use Low when on battery or not near an outlet, and go full on with Ultra or High when plugged in
no problems but boot the game in desktop mode to sign into xbox, besides that gets a smooth 60 fps on low preset

when you start the game it asks you to log in. it used to let you log in to xbox, now it gets stuck and then says it can't log in. it goes on and on in a loop. before the update you could play, now it doesn't.

Каждый раз при перемещении на карту --- выкидывает в меню по причине «Ошибка с экрана». После этого можно вернуться в игру и спокойно играть

The game works perfectly as long as you run the game in desktop mode the first time you launch it. While you are in desktop mode sign into Xbox and run a benchmark when it asks you about the settings. After the benchmark test you can open the game however you wish to play. Both modes work well.

Plays well on Steam Deck. FPS was 67-90 during the game which is much better than expected.
It took 2 tries to log into the Microsoft/X Box screen (the first time I got no place to type my user name)
Do not let it pick the low graphics settings (which is what it wants the first time you play it). Instead click the "profile my computer" button and let it go through it's thing to determine the best settings. Then let it restart the game and it plays quite well

Had to sign in to my Xbox account in desktop mode
The sign in window goes into a loop in gaming mode
Microsoft Store and Steam save games do not automatically sync. You have to use a tool like GPSaveConverter on a PC to get your Microsoft Store save file over to the Steam Deck.

The Steam Deck can handle slightly higher settings than what the game recommends. Play around with it to suit your needs.
9 Watts TDP; 900 MHz GPU Clock Speed - Roughly 3 hours of battery life.
The Xbox Sign In popup will not work in Game Mode/Big Screen, and will require Desktop Mode, and an external keyboard.
Certain car interiors will fade with a blur effect. Might be related to FSR with the Blur setting enabled.
Sign In popup requires an external keyboard since using the built-in one just closes the popup and fails to authenticate.
Did some free-roam and Horizon Tours. It's seamless and practically the same experience on Windows 11.
Just remember your first Xbox Sign In needs to be in Desktop Mode and preferably with an external keyboard.

Might be possible to login via desktop mode but I can't confirm this yet.

Was working great, now it doesn't allow me to login to xbox account. Just says sign in needed but login screen is not showing up.

Particle Effects Quality Low makes sandstorms look bad inside
Moving into city at high speeds results in invisible buildings momentarily, but FPS is more or less locked 40
Battery: ~1:35

Downscaling the ingame resolution to 1152x720 (the 3rd option I believe)
FPS locked at 40 in Quick Settings. FPS unlocked in FH5 for consistent frame times
Allow Tearing set to True
TDP locked at 12
Setting up FSR through quick panel with sharpness set to 2
I get approx. 1h10m out of the LCD model.
It's hard to read from a distance if you're playing with a controller and it away from you, but holding the Deck it's readable.
Vibration dies on external controllers if you lock the device. Its pretty inconsistent so I cant report a root cause, though I believe this is an issue with FH5 itself as it's present on Windows as well
Hitches only every so often in intensive areas. Input delay with tearing enabled is still prominent, but only marginally.
These tweaks and tinkers are only to save battery life. The LCD steam deck runs this game easily at 60FPS without all the tweaks, and would work easily under Linux in my experience.

Game will launch and show the start screen, prompting to login to your Microsoft ID, but after that trying to load forever. Waited for 20 minutes to finish but with no luck. Never got to the main menu of the game and also not able to go into the game settings. Tried the default Proton configuration as well as “Hotfix” and “Experimental” with no changes whatsoever.

Some menu and ui text hard to read, can be fixed with the text size option in the accessibility menu.
Very pleased at how well the game ran without making any changes, it can of course be made to look nicer (and run closer to 30fps) if you want to try different graphics settings.
However I got around 45 fps in most scenes of the game which works for me!

The game is slightly less stable than Tears of the Kingdom on Yuzu. It has frequent stutters and pop-ins, especially on the DLC maps.
Button prompt text is small.
Dpad-right not registering.
Terrain pop-in, rubberbanding stutters.
Rarely crashes system.
It ran first try after purchase, but it was not a smooth experience.

Working again on experimental after update.

I use GE 8 and steam version

After latest update, the game doesn't launch anymore.

After latest update, the game doesn't launch anymore.

Worked flawlessly in limited 40 fps on proton experimental. occasional crash once in 10 sessions. now crashes after splash screen.

Your login to xbox may fail: after loging in the login button does nothing you are still unable to get into the game (it tells "login needed"), but you are also unable to logout or change a account either.
Go to desktop mode and deleting the entire /home/deck/.local/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1551360
folder makes you able to login again (also wiping all your game data, but there should be none since you cannot play before you sign in), which is what I thought solved my issue. You can also try using a different network and/or account, logout Forza from here, cleaning proton files from Steam and use a external keynoard and mouse. I tried quite a few times until it worked.
Switched to 40Hz
I upped the default settings just a notch and locked the deck to 40Hz. I drove around in an online lobby and it never dipped under 40FPS. It's not a stuttery mess anymore like the day the Rally DLC was released. The game still stutters but it's very rare and not that bothersome.
Bricking crashes and high ram usage might inform a normal gamer that their hardware has problems but its just only proton7.
used 40hz and fps limit
Some in game icons are so small that you cannot diffrentiate them
Graphics were slow to load when using steams recommendt proton version 7,0,6
Randomly controls would not respond like controller got disconnected on proton 7
Random texture streaming problems. Game even notified about em. When using latest proton 8 it works better. And under proton 7 very high ram usage aprox 15 gib
On proton 7 steam deck randomly bricked and forced to manualy do a hard reset to fix
Rumble would do wierd things under proton 7
In proton 7 game would connect to servers but when using latest it could not
Use latest proton version for better perfomance
Game crashed default Proton
There are some lags, but it runs just fine with the default settings.
However, you need to open the virtual keyboard to log in to your Microsoft account during initial setup.
Overall, I can give it a higher score than Sliver.
made the back grip buttons accelerate and handbrake
Controllers not detected on regular Proton, detected on GEProton7-55
Set everything to low and turn on FSR if you want to get a smooth 55-60fps
lock 40 fps, graphic low settings
Updated Steam Deck OS to the latest version 3.4.6, everything runs great without changing proton settings & no crashes. Their is slightly lag once in a while, but it is very minimal and not too noticable. The loading screen time is long, it could be my memory card. Overall, I enjoy the game and surprised how well it runs on Steam Deck
Turning V-Sync off in game and capping SD to 45Hz solved most of the micro stutters
Drove around for an hour in free roam online lobby, no issues whatsoever
My aim was to hit consistent frametimes with somewhat decent graphics. I limited SD to 45Hz. It can hold 50 (or even 60 at times) but there were moments where it dipped momentarily which caused micro stutters. With the settings mentioned below, it still stutters from time to time but they're far in between. Bear in mind, these settings are not tailored for improved battery life.
VIDEO: Native res, Vsync off (turning it off solved most of my stuttering issues but not entirely), MSAA x2 (otherwise jagged edges galore), rest is off. GRAPHICS: AF High, Shadows Low, Night shadows On, Motion blur Off, Textures Medium, Geometry Low, SSAO Off, Reflection Low, World car LoD Medium, Deformable terrain Medium, SSR Low, Lens effects Off, Shaders Medium, Particles Low
Use high graphic settings and cap 30 fps + Cryobyte33's Steam Deck performance guide. No crashes. Perfect visual!
Latest beta steam os fixes the black screen problem
Stable internet = no crashes! After Cryobyte33's tutorial I found that crashes happen only because of internet. If internet didn't catch some data - game will crash. If you manually disable wi-fi connection- it'll crash. MAYBE THIS IS A MAIN REASON, hope developers will see that and fix.
