The native version crashes on launch, so switch to the Windows version with Proton. In the game "Properties" menu, go to Compatibility > "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" > and choose a version of Proton from the dropdown that appears.

After just downloading, the game would crash.
Then I installed assimp-utils like described here:
https://www.howtoinstall.me/ubuntu/18-04/assimp-utils/
After that it would still crash.
Then in Steam Game settings for Perfect Heist 2, I went to Properties->Compatability and forced the use of Proton Experimental.
Now it works and runs well on max settings on my computer.

Game is terrible at capturing mouse, escapes game window after each round
Bounds are sometimes incorrect and the mouse

There's just one dependency not automagically installed. Get the assimp (utils) library -- Thats it.
MMB / Pinging causes issues
There are very competent people around here, maybe they can help that the assimp library gets installed together with steam.

Native version doesn´t work

Out of the box: borked, crashes on startup
After tinkering: Runs fine with forced proton experimental and the libassimp5 library (on debian, not shipped with the game!)
Game didn't start at first; started steam and ph2 via commandline and saw that the library assimp
was missing on my system. Installed it via pacman -S assimp
and then it worked

Native build needs libassimp5 which is not shipped with the game. I installed my distro's version and was able to run the game
Doesn't run. Not native, not via any Proton version.

Sometimes your mouse and/or the screen just freezes. This usually happens at class selection and is fixed by alt tabbing out once or twice.
Native is broken, had to use Proton
Native version is broken

Works Well OOTB
Online issues (few and far between) seem to have been due to the game itself, nothing Linux specific.
Per the other ProtonDB review I have only played this game via Proton (currently 7.0-2) and had no - minimal issues.
