The only way to progress past the proprietary launcher is to tap the very bottom of the screen and pray you hit the button. Usually takes 3-4 tries.
Darktide was rough early on, but now it runs well and even looks good at the lowest settings. You can comfortably enjoy the game this way. Tinkering highly recommended to get the extra FPS.

touch your screen to start
graphics settings all low, resolution 800P, use FSR3.0 Balance , the game's graphics are still clear.
frame rate is around 40

lock to 40 fps and turn frame generation on, set all settings to low except the model meshes bring that up to like 2.0 makes the game very smooth and playable

Using GE9.5, Experimental or 9.0 I would have to switch to desktop mode otherwise one would get stuck on building shaders. Even then sometimes the launcher would not load as a full screen. I do not have to switch to desktop mode and have no other issues using 8.0-5. In game I am running it windowed for gamescope, also on medium settings using balanced on XESS or FSR2.0 gives me a stable 30fps where it is decent to look at without too much artifacting from the upscaling. FSR has a more stable 30 but XESS looks a bit better in my opinion.

Since the game is very demanding on hardware, you can only play it on the Steam Deck if you have a strong desire and patience, but personall
The optimization is just terrible. Even in portable mode it doesn’t play very well, and I won’t say anything about playing at 1080p on an external monitor - it’s a slideshow instead of a game!

Change the default window setting to bordless fullscreen or fullscreen to fix current crashes...otherwise it runs better then before.
Lowered graphics, I've found FSR 1.0 on quality beats FSR 2.0 in this title on the SD.
Game is set to Windowed by default, this seemed to CTD on setting changes, switch to borderless/fullscreen to fix.
Crashes when in default "Window" mode on graphics setting changes.
Support getting better, runs better then attempts 5 months ago.

Video settings: low, fsr 2 quality, fps/refresh rate locked at 40
On Steam Deck I use the medium graphics preset with FSR 2 on ultra performance. Great game with amazing audio.

I always customize all my controls
Currently the game is not working in gaming mode due to a gamescope issue: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope/issues/993 -- for the game to pass the shader compilation progress bar, you have to play the game in Desktop mode.
Game has performance issues but that's universal, not particular to the Steam Deck. It also uses Easy Anticheat but different from Vermintide, it's compatible with Linux. Do not forget to have the Easy Anticheat Runtime installed to run.

Worked pre SteamOS 3.5 and the big game patch in October. Now it's a black screen and reboot or forced reboot. Tried experimental / GE etc.
Shame, it was on shaky grounds in prior patches performance wise, but it did work!

Made T the special button. It was bound by default to a button I couldn't figure out
I was able to play Multiplayer on Pop!_OS with no issues with a Windows user. You have to get through the tutorial first before you can play with others. Some minor stuttering in the beginning of a level but cleared up. Was able to complete multiple missions, level up my character and purchase weapons from the menu
40hz/40fps as usual
It felt like not all music tracks are playing correctly.
Make sure to install AntiCheat Runtime
Settings on Low, disable Motion Blur and Lensflare, lowered the sliders for 5 each (Max Ragdoll, Decals etc) , Got a very solid 40ish FPS and was able to play with friends. We even created a Steam Group and Voice worked as well flawless. Pretty good Expirience. I used Standard Proton, Experimental and GE8.02. Exp and GE gave me the best FPS, at least it felt like it, but all seems to work fine.
External Launcher which cannot be bypassed
The game does not hold stable frame rate, no matter the settings
I could play the game before but as of today it keeps crashing as soon as i enter the video settings ingame.

Overall experience is astonishingly smooth in low setting. Having average around 30~40fps most the time.
CryoUtilities all set to recommande and 4G vram.
Assign backgrip for stickpress and utilities function such as quick swap weapon and granade. And gyro on for better aiming.
use touch screen to start the game.
Probably cause by FSR setting
in-game setting cause the game crash.
ramdon game crash proably caues by poor stablity (hopefully fixed by dev in near future.)
The small screen of the deck maks this game a bit more difficult than your normal experience, recommand a mouse and keyborad+bigger display.
Turned off all rtx options (false and 0) Changed the resolution to 960 x 600 Changed lod_object_multiplier to 0.1 Changed local_light_shadows to false
Steam Deck boot menu, advanced options, Changed vram size to 2Gb now testing with 4 Installed cryo utilities and tuned fsr 2 in game to quality (which is the key to quality visuals) SD performance options set to 45 fps cuz sometimes drops 6 fps (2GB vram experience) so this way the occasional jitter drops it to 39fps so I have constant 40fps so far on difficulty 1 and 2. On difficulty 3 with big hordes and lot of explosions it drops to 30 but still, soon much better than before. And with drops I mean drops... for little while then quickly back to 40. Cryo utilities is the "usual" (I think) 16Gb and swapping to 1 (the recommended if it's not right what I wrote) and turn FSR on in steam deck so it upscale that 960x600p resolution. I just can't tell how much more enjoyable the game is for me now. Hope the 4gb vram pushes it a bit further towards stability, might even increase some setting if it does, cuz without the 45fps limit it actually moves between 48 and 60 most of the time
Stopped experiencing hard laggs where hits weren't registered and AI kept running into nothingness
Finally can play longer than 2 matches and enjoy the game
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Lowered FPS to 30
Since my last report, I managed to get the game to work finally. I think the developers just updated their EAC to include Linux? Anyways, the game runs okay-ish if you set everything to low with AMD SuperResolution also turned on. I'd dip to around 25 FPS in major engagements and 30 FPS for the rest of the level. No problems with multiplayer.
low setting looks bad but playable.
the whole game is online so it better work lol. that being said i have not had any issue so far.
use in game fsr 2.0 and turn off steam deck fsr.
Game run perfectly fine given the hardware
Haven't bothered to try out regular Proton version and immediately switched to proton-ge-custom for it. Runs damn well and doesn't really have a lot of issues. Getting decend frame rates and a great near native experience with that little wonder machine :)
The game works, there are minor graphical glitches and instability with multiplayer and resolving games.
Changed run to left analog stick click
Must first launch on desktop mode to clear the launcher screen.
Occasional crashing and instability when joining other players.
I've downgraded the recommended graphical settings for more responsive FPS and input time.
I locked the game at 30 Fps. Turned down all the sliders from low graphics preset. The game does get blurry with FSR on blanaced but the Fps is pretty stable all things considered. Still looks great on the small screen and one of the most playable multiplayer shooters on steam deck since it's co op and eac works fine.

I followed a number of the settings listed in the pre-order beta that made the game launch, but none seemed to work. As soon as you get to the EAC screen, the game closes back to Steam. It seems the newer EAC version they're using with the official game launch on November 30 has broken any Steam Deck compatibility we did have during the pre-order beta.
Works well out of the box, to include launcher and EAC. Pre-Launch beta has server and stability issues that are platform agnostic.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Crashes are being worked; they appear hardware agnostic.
Server stability is being worked; platform agnostic.
Update to my previous post after additional tinkering to improve visual quality and performance
Been playing this a bunch on the Deck. While we wait on further optimizations I found a comfortable configuration to stay largely at 30FPS with solid image quality (outside being in the middle of a horde, but those kill frames on my 3080 and 5900X, so hopefully further optimization improves that scenerio in the future).
Before booting up the game, add DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% to the launch options to assist with any errant stutters.
Use Fullscreen with FSR 2.0 set to Quality and FOV set to 80. Disable VSync and use Unlimited for the frame rate. Cap to 30 with the Steam settings. Frame pacing will be ass with the in-game limiter and VSync. Enable Sharpening.
Set everything to Low in Advanced Graphics, and disable Depth of Field. Bloom is gonna be preference based, but I'd argue it helps the lower quality lighting "pop" a bit better on the Deck. Enable Skin Sub-Surface Scattering and disable Motion Blur.
Set SSR to Medium (that's as low as it goes within the menus), and turn off Lens Quality and Lens Flares. Nothing of value is lost with these off.
Here's the critical bit: set all those sliders at the bottom as low as they can go, except Scatter Density. Set this to .05, or .15 if you don't mind losing a frame or two during hordes (which will drop frames to the mid-20s regardless). These sliders have a huge impact on performance, yet are the least noticeable visually on the Deck's smaller screen.
You can run the game on the Low Preset with FSR 2.0 set to Balanced if you want an out of the box experience, but the above adds a few settings that help the final image look less soft and more modern (specifically SSR).
Hopefully further optimization will allow us to use lower settings to hit 40FPS, or set settings higher for 30FPS, but for now Darktide is a strictly 30FPS experience on the Deck with lower settings. It still looks great when you factor in the smaller screen and hardware on hand, and the drops during hordes are not dealbreakers outside the top two difficulties (and even then, those are still doable).
Long post made short; still pretty rad Darktide is playable and enjoyable on the Deck. Portable heretic purging is awesome, and fingers crossed future optimizations further improve the experience.

Works on the Steamdeck fairly well. Turn on FSR 2.0, cap it at 30fps and turn the settings to mostly low with a few at medium.
30fps cap, 13 watt power limit
Multiplayer works pretty well overall, I did once get kicked from a game but was able to join back up mid game. Played 3 hours
Add this to launch options: DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
30fps cap, FSR 2.0 on, a mix of Low and Medium settings, turn Vsync on and the game is very playable. I played for 3 hours and had one time where I got disconnected, but was able to join back into the match I was in. Little tinkering to be done but it runs nearly the same as the PC version. I tried default steam proton and also Experimental, slight edge to Experimental. Steady 30 fps can be done on the steamdeck.
Game largely works well out of the box, though some minor graphical tweaks help stabilize the experience.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Issues with multiplayer had less to do with the Deck, and more to do with the beta itself. Those aside, multiplayer works as well on the Deck as it does on PC.
Game works well-enough out of the box, to include the updated launcher and EAC support. Darktide's optimization is middling at best though across the board, so to get a mostly stable 30FPS I recommend using the "Low" graphics preset with FSR 2.0 set to "Balanced." Enable Sharpening and set FOV to 80 to better see distant enemies on the smaller screen. The in-game frame-limiter negatively affects frametime, so use the 30FPS cap in the Deck's quick menu, and use the in-game VSync to stablize the framerate. I tried setting a manual GPU clock, but found it negatively effects performance at all settings. This game will be a battery hog no matter how you split it. That said, with settings dialed it the game runs well and still doesn't look too bad (if a bit soft). Hopefully further performance optimizations will allow us to hit 30FPS with some better settings, or the ability to reach a steady 40FPS.
Note: I tried Proton Experimental and 7.04 and found little to no difference in performance; I opted to stick with Experimental to see if any update to it does assist in the future. Also, you don't neccessarily need the DXVK launcher option, but it does reduce stutter if you are experiencing issues with the shader cache not compiling efficiently.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
The game Crashes sometimes when editing the Graphic Settings and needs to be relaunched.
Im Playing the Pre-Order BETA, so i noticed as also the communty has written already, some general performance issues ( not on steam deck, on PC ) which are known.
For a Beta with still known performance issues Its Good
GE-Proton-7-41

No problem with EAC after following the workaround, multioplayer works great
Some users fond a workaround to make the game playable on Linux. I followed this guide https://steamcommunity.com/app/1361210/discussions/0/6126609705336354111/
The deck plays it at around 20-30 FPS on medium settings, wich is actually quite good, considering that the beta has some performance issue on windows too, and also on high-end machines
