An update to my previous report, game now works using the latest version of GE (at the time of writing is GE-Proton9-12).
There will be a white window that appears when you launch the game, but after a few seconds it will go away and the game will run normally.

I got this through Amazon Games and installed it with Nile. From then, I tried running the game through Steam, and no matter what dlls I tried to add or versions of Proton I switched to, I never managed to get it to work. I added it in Lutris, and it worked fine there.

A white window will display for a few seconds before the game crashes after launching it. I have tried it on most of the recent Steam proton versions (the latest being proton 8.0-1 as of writing), including experimental and GE-Proton7-55. They all produce the same result.
