The EA App can be quite jank at times.
All mods work perfectly without any tinkering, GShade/Reshade works with abit of work (although it does come at the cost of some performance), Both the EA DLC unlocker and Sims 4 Updater by Anadius are fully functioning and can be set up on a legit copy of Sims 4 being played on a Steam Deck, or so I'm told.

Had to reload the game for it to download my DLC from Origin/EA App
I encountered one issue that I'm not sure if it was Steam Deck specific or Sims 4 in general. Tried loading into a lot and the game failed to load the lot, asking me to reload the game. Eventually had to mess around in manage worlds to get my sim back.
I'm actually amazed at how well the game runs on the deck. At full charge I'm getting 4 hours of play time without changing anything on the battery. All my EA expansions carried over after a quick restart and it's been smooth ever since.
Mods would be annoying to set up but they would be doable, and that's about my only complaint. That and the lack of any cloud saves.

Changed left trackpad behavior, changed behavior of d-pad
Default compatability was Proton experimental. I experienced constant crashes on that setting. Switching to Proton 9.0-2 seems to have resolved that issue. Been playing for about half an hour without any crashes.

original recommended was experimental

No cloud save, make sure to backup your saves.
No issues with installing mods.

Can install EA Desktop / Sign in. Game doesn't boot. Tried Default, Proton Expermental & 8.0-5

EA DRM app will launch, you'll need to log in. Thankfully, login via Steam works. Also, I recommend restarting the game after the first launch. Non-Steam DLC will be installed automatically after first relaunch.
Dark lighting
50% of the time the game will not launch.
Had to reinstall after a weird one-off complete freeze that forced me to reboot
if left on the steamdeck's resolution, the game has unreadable text.
game has HORRIBLE screen tearing if you don't turn VSync on. turning Vsync on completely erases the screen tearing issue.
when first setting up with an external display, button hit boxes will be in the correct positions, but the graphics will be heavily misalaigned. setting the display mode to windowed, then back to fullscreen fixes the issue permanently.
playing with a mouse and keyboard on an external display is 100% necessary. the game seems to run best at 1080p with medium-low settings, Vsync on, and anti-aliasing on (the last to resolve graphics artifacts). the game pulled my origin purchased packs with no issues, and build mode cheats like bb.moveobjects and bb.showhiddenobjects function perfectly. i don't use CAS or live mode so IDK if those cheats work. CC seems not to work, as i couldn't get any build CC from little dica or pierisim to show up. if i'm able to update this in the future if CC works, i will ammend this.
Changed L5 ad R5 to zoom in and zoom out
You need to setup the EA launcher in order to play this game
Crashed the whole SteamOS while customizing the controllers two times, then never crashed again.
When the game closes it keeps suspended on a black screen, i suspect the problem is the EA launcher keeps open in the background. But you can safely force close the game trough Steam.
I recommend you to play on the Steam version, even if you have DLC and Expansion packs on other platforms once you install and open trough Steam you will have to setup and link your Steam account with your EA account and that will bring all your DLC and Expansions to Steam. After setting up the EA launcher I just played the game without issue. I didn't changed graphical settings and on the startup default Ive managed from 3 to 4 hours of battery life and a good performance. Connecting online to download assets works fine.
EA App updates break Proton, thus not being able to launch game.
Does not support Cloud Saves. Deleting Proton files deletes local Saves so make sure back them up.
When the EA App updates, game will not launch.
When the EA App updates, it will no longer launch the game. The only solution is to delete the Proton files and relaunch the game so it reinstalls it, though this will delete your Saves and Mods folder - so make sure to back those up.
Does not download the cloud save that from PC
I got the game + DLC on origin. I download the base game on steam (it's free-to-play) and i link the game with my EA account when first launch. Now, i got the Sims 4 on steam but with all my DLC i buyed on origin back in time. Probably help for shaders cache and others things.
Do a lot of change.
40HZ + 40fps limit.
Use high settings with some medium, enable laptop mode.

EA App seems to now be forced.
EA App seems to no longer work/launch the game correctly. I have even been unsuccessful in putting the EA App on the SD as a standalone launcher, regardless of GE Proton or Proton Experimental, it will launch the launcher under Proton Exp or GE 38, but if you go to login, or even repair, it simply has a box after that does not allow you to sign in or progress any further as it is completely blank. Sims 4 was already installed and EA was already put on it, but IT seems to not be launching, which is causing Sims 4 to not launch after. If this fixes, I will update if possible.
i really dont know why valve claims this is not steam deck supported, really the only "issue" is that when running the game for the first time the EA launcher opens a bunch of windows, but thats it

Decrease video settings to high instead of ultra, enabled laptop mode, lowered frame rate to 50.
Highly recommend setting a custom controller layout that maps all hot keys. Really enjoyable experience on deck, runs as good as ever with all dlc and a lot of mods/cc.
Regular controller binds are good, as with all Deck titles it may eat battery quite quickly.
Game defaults to ultra settings, doesn't run particularly well, lowered to medium. Optionally you can put on laptop mode for power saving.
No issues in gaming mode but opens up 8 seperate windows of Origin in Desktop mode you see when tabbing out.
I've owned this game for years, but when I went to login for drm origin needed an access code which doesn't exist. Tried on my old account and made a new one for good measure. I'll probably try again after it becomes free to play in October. When I do I'll update here
Mods go into the compdata folder. Once you copy them over they will work perfectly.
I added screenshot capability to the L5 button (it is the C key)
Please note: If you bought the game from origin before, you will need buy the base game AGAIN in order to fully experience it in steam. You can download any of your existing DLC bought in origin, hit Shift + F1 to see the origin download manager to see the progress. It will take a while.
Overall the game plays great even with 1000s of mods that I have! It does take getting used to controls. YMMV depending on your playstyle.
40hz/40fps
Needs to install origin Just let it install and use the touchpad to navigate
Its playable but you need patience and look out for origin The controllerlayout is great and with 'select' you open origin for pack downloads
Brought the settings down to medium and disabled post processing
Origin has to be closed manually after closing the game, not sure why since it closes automatically on Windows.
Plays without a problem, but you might need to select a different community controller layout or create one yourself. Only problem on Steam Deck seems to be that you need to press "Close game" to properly close the origin launcher after closing the game itself.
Also plays fine when using the "Add non-steam game" to add and install Origin and play from there.

Changed a few settings to be able to rotate camera, see lower/upper floor levels, rotate items, etc.
Yes BUT you can easily change the UI Scale in Settings > Accessibility > UI Scale.
[Steam Deck] Bought directly through Steam store, I could download my the DLCs bought in Origin, sice it has to download and link your Origin account to play. You can press SHIFT+F1 to see the download progress.
