even with HEAVY settings modifications, setting everything as low as it can go, the game can take anywhere from 3-15 minutes to load in depending on the level. ignoring the lag and control weirdness, it's not even worth it to load into an area.
setting proton 8.0, using a community control layout, and using a keyboard and mouse when in the character creation screen are NECESSARY
my steamdeck HATES running wifi and bluetooth at the same time. connecting a bluetooth mouse or keyboard makes you lag so hard wifi wise that the game kicks you from your party and requires a restart to fix it. this may be specific to my unit, as i need bluetooth off to get good wifi strength even out of any game.
launcher on rare occasions doesn't launch when you start the game, requiring a force quit and restart of the game.
very very rarely all entities on screen will freeze for a second in congested areas such as majour boss events, but ti's so rare it took me a month to notice.
without the afformentioned changes, the game is unplayable, but once you do those the game runs on like medium high settings with little lag or issues.
provided you set the game to use proton 8.0, and set the graphics to like medium so the 60fps is stable the game runs and looks great.
very minour crackling every like 6 or so songs, audio falls out of sync during (very rare) large lag spikes, but can be fixed with a pause-unpause (seriously it's like once every 2 hours of gameplay).
there is sometimes some slowdown for a second or two that causes charts to de-sync from music. a quick pause & unpause fixes the chart.
when not running on proton 8.0, charts will fall out of sync with the audio even with no lagging, and pausing will set the chart forward by nearly a whole second, making timing impossible.
without modifying a handful of settings upon install, the game is unplayable, but slight settings/proton version modification yields a lovely experience.
switching to proton 8.0 helps with framerate stability, but it runs more than playable on first install with no modification.
it honestly shocked me how well this runs when labelled as not supported. i of course fiddled with settings, but that's entirely unnecessary for it to run like it was intended to be on deck.
if left on the steamdeck's resolution, the game has unreadable text.
game has HORRIBLE screen tearing if you don't turn VSync on. turning Vsync on completely erases the screen tearing issue.
when first setting up with an external display, button hit boxes will be in the correct positions, but the graphics will be heavily misalaigned. setting the display mode to windowed, then back to fullscreen fixes the issue permanently.
playing with a mouse and keyboard on an external display is 100% necessary. the game seems to run best at 1080p with medium-low settings, Vsync on, and anti-aliasing on (the last to resolve graphics artifacts). the game pulled my origin purchased packs with no issues, and build mode cheats like bb.moveobjects and bb.showhiddenobjects function perfectly. i don't use CAS or live mode so IDK if those cheats work. CC seems not to work, as i couldn't get any build CC from little dica or pierisim to show up. if i'm able to update this in the future if CC works, i will ammend this.
