gdiplus
The tutorial and the cutscenes after stage 4 won't display any text unless gdiplus is installed.
The controller configuration tool works out of the box and all of the missing text is fixed by installing gdiplus.
installed gdiplus
Game stretches when fullscreen is forced, turning off start windowed in the launcher keeps the aspect ratio correct. Switching workspaces from fullscreen breaks the window and the game needs to be restarted.
luncher menus leak mouse input to things behind them
Saw this game had some missing text issues and stutter/crashing in the tutorial. With the base install I only had the missing text. After installing gdiplus with protontricks the tutorial text was fixed. I completed the tutorial just fine and then played full sequence for a while with no further issues.
gamemoderun %command%
Practice mode crashes the game.
Also, game ran super fast at 144 refresh rate. I fixed it by dropping it down to 60 in my display settings.
Switching to Proton Experimental fixed the full screen issue.
Lack of fullscreen support and practice mode for Linux will turn away many fans of this type of game genre.
Running the game in fullscreen just gives a black screen, but you can hear the menu music after it loads. The game has to be played in windowed mode.
The game crashes within a few seconds of going into the practice mode and starting a level.
Game freezes in tutorial and fullscreen does not scale properly on dual-monitor setups.
The game scales as if my dual monitor setup was a single width, resulting in the game quadrupling the resolution. This results in only 1/4 of the game screen showing up on my main display. I have yet to find a solution, I assume disabling my second monitor would work but I haven't tried it. Running the game in Windowed mode works.
The game consistently freezes in the tutorial on a fresh save (or via Practice mode), it seems to occur mostly when using a "Discharge", though I've seen it happen just by going left and right. If the game saves and allows skipping tutorial on the next boot, then it can be played, just steer clear of the practice mode.
If you boot in Windowed mode, and have a previous save, or manage to make the game save after the initial boot (so it takes you to the main menu on second boot), the game seems mostly playable. I was able to clear the first stage's boss and move on the next level from that point, though I can't confirm if you can progress further (due to my lack of skills in this game).
