Because of an OpenSSL related bug in Unreal Engine 4.13-4.21, you need to set the launch option for the game to work on recent Intel CPU's (as detailed in github issue #5830). The launch option is only needed on those CPU's.
There might be a problem with the very last ending videos according to a github comment, but I have not been able to confirm that (there are several different endings too..). If there is a problem, it would probably work by using Proton-GE as a workaround.
The default control scheme for this game is keyboard and mouse, but the game has full support for gamepad
The videos are not working with Proton 7.0-4 and neither with Proton Experimental, what is worse the game will just froze instead of playing the video and needs to be manually shut down. With Proton 7.0-5 the game runs without issue and during writing of this review I'm in the last chapter.
Significant framerate drops in some scenes, but it is playable

Got this game from the Epic Game Launcher, tried to start it from the EGL but it didn't start so I started the downloaded game .EXE in Lutris and this did the trick without any problems.
The Runner Lutris 5.7-11 default didn't work, tried it with the 5.19 Staging and this one worked.
Runs perfect.
- 1 - Install Git (Debian/Ubuntu/Mint etc)
$ sudo apt install git
- 2 - Download resources:
$ git clone https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
$ git clone https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-installcab
- 3 - Install:
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/compatdata/1029890/pfx ./mf-install/mf-install.sh
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/compatdata/1029890/pfx ./mf-installcab/mf-install.sh
Now you need to get mfplat.dll in your application directory (it's in the mf-installcab folder); give permission;
$ chmod +x mfplat.dll;
Game is playable now without launch options, but videos are not played. Manually installing media foundation fixes the videos, rating this silver because those are not freely distributable files and IMO goes beyond a tweak.
Working fine if you have -onethread in launch options on STEAM. Game is not playable becuse cutscenes ingame not working even if you install everything you need. "they say"..
Game won't launch without setting launch option "-onethread", also videos are skipped.
Doesn't start, I see a black screen flashing for an instant and after that Steam thinks it is running but I can't see it. When opening the system monitor I can only find an entry for a CrashReportClient.exe which disappears after a while together with Steam stopping to show that the game would be running. Tried PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 and PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 to no avail (PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 wouldn't make sense as a minimum system requirement of the game is DirectX11).
