!! THIS REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE EXPERIMENTAL BRANCH !! The stable branch works perfectly fine as many reviews describe it.
Hello Games just released an update where they switched from OpenGL to Vulkan (see https://www.nomanssky.com/2019/04/vulkan-update/). This update is only available on the experimental branch for now (the stable branch will switch to Vulkan some time in the future).
When opening the game a popup appears saying that Vulkan is not supported and you should update your graphics drivers. After dismissing the error the game starts anyway. The Menu and loading screen work fine, but the actual game runs with 5-6 fps.
Another report for the experimental vulkan branch: I don't know what happend (there's not a new proton release that changed it, maybe new nvidia drivers?) but now the game runs at about 20 - 30 fps on a planet and 60 fps in space. That's still not perfect, but much better than the 5-8 fps I previously had.
Sometimes crashes at the end of a game or everything is black at the start of a new game but most of the time it works. Once you're in a game everything works fine too.
The previews of the minigames don't play as others already noted. For me the game didn't crash on exit though.
Works perfectly after setting "PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%" as launch options.
Apart from the crashes it worked perfectly. It should also be noted, that the game is in early access and just came out two days ago.
The game worked perfectly and then suddenly crashed aber ~15 min. After about 5 minutes playing, it crashed a second time. Didn't try it again after that for now.
