Works pretty much flawlessly
Occasionally on startup the game doesn't detect DS4 (over Steam Input). Restarting the game fixes the issue. The game displays Xbox glyphs.
Rideshare Rebellion defaults to low graphics setting on RTX 2070 on Nouveau/NVK; it seems appropriate, since the driver can't keep up on high. With the proprietary driver it defaults to- and runs great on high.
Works great through EA App running in Bottles. You have to switch your web browser's user agent to Windows.
Some servers might kick you out for outdated PunkBuster. You can update it manually by following instructions here: https://help.ea.com/en/help/battlefield/punkbuster-bans-kicks-troubleshooting/ After that the experience should be flawless.
At first the game was failing installation for some reason. I had to delete the prefix and reinstall EA App again, then the game installed fine.
NOUVEAU: DX12 only loads into main menu. Used to work with `-d3d11` option, but they broke it.
-d3d11
DX11 crashes at startup. It broke since they added the "Compatibility mode" option. That one also crashes at startup. Before it broke Nouveau was able to achieve 30-ish fps at low settings, I don't remember exactly. Nvidia proprietary should work fine.
Works perfectly in Proton. Use it over Linux native.
The Linux version has a broken secret at the end of the game.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NGX_UPDATER=1 MANGOHUD=1 gamemoderun %command%
Sometimes there's an EA App popup (e.g. login prompt) which is blank and stops you from launching the game. Installing these using Protontricks fixes the issue:
- DLL: d3dcompiler_47
- font: liberation
Based on this guide: https://steamdeckhq.com/tips-and-guides/fixing-ea-play-blank-screen-for-ea-games-on-steam/
Heavy stutter when first exiting the garage, but goes away quickly. Slight stutters and hickups during gameplay, dropping graphics settings would likely alleviate these issues though, locking to 60fps using MangoHud somewhat helps to smooth it out
Plasma Wayland, 144Hz monitor + VRR through the iGPU, game installed on HDD
Windows version from Epic works flawlessly, including DLSS and Nvidia ray tracing; DualShock 4 glyphs appear properly
If you get a web browser popup asking you to connect SOTTR to Epic account (?? kinda weird, I got the game on EGS, but okay...), you HAVE TO accept it; otherwise you'll be stuck on a black screen when loading the game, benchmark will be completely broken, and with a new save you won't even reach the main menu. This popup wasn't a thing a couple months ago, perhaps a game update has introduced it.
Install Windows version of Steam client in Wine; in the Linux-native Steam the game won't ever start.
I couldn't get Windows Steam to function with my Nvidia card, maybe because I'm using Nouveau; but I managed to get it working in Small Mode on my AMD iGPU. | When changing game resolution to anything else than native, mouse movements don''t line up with the interface (I had to turn down resolution, because iGPU). Gamepad works just fine though. | I tried a CEG DRM workaround (copy over binaries from Windows library to Linux library; Valve approved), but it didn't work, so that's probably not the culprit.
Linux version doesn't start up. It can be fixed easily, but Windows version running through Proton is just better.
zinkrun %command%
Linux version doesn't start by default. Can be fixed by editing TombRaider.sh
.

In the Linux version my Dualshock 3 doesn't vibrate at all. Works fine in Proton. Both versions display Xbox glyphs.
Windows and Linux saves aren't compatible. Windows files are .dat
, Linux files are .macdat
. Steam Cloud will store both.
Linux version runs a little worse than through Proton, although it's playable. Windows version through Proton runs great.
Linux version completely froze up on me a couple times in the last section of the game - I had to kill the game through Steam. Windows version never froze up like that.
Tomb of the Lost Adventurer DLC isn't playable in the Linux version. The entrance to the tomb is blocked off, as if I didn't own the DLC, even thought it's listed as Linux-native. Maybe it's because I got the DLC as a part of a bundle marked as Windows-only? You can enter the DLC tomb just fine when running the game in Proton.
If you're playing the Linux version, try Zink and see if it performs better than your native OpenGL driver.
