Pixel game just works
The game has a hard-cap on its internal resolution (because pixels). This is normal and not something to fix. Going fullscreen just means you'll have big pixels (like the old days) but with modern lighting and an uncountable amount of objects on screen when things get busy.
Proton has come a long way
Don't worry if you still see this game as Bronze. It works quite well with modern Proton.
MANGOHUD=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxgi=b" gamemoderun %command%
If it doesn't launch for you natively, any modern Proton version should fix it.
-vulkan
Happens on Wayland. Fixed with -vulkan in Launch Options
You can work around the Wayland issues, but adding -vulkan fixes just about everything.
Any quirks you run into are more likely to be due to the game being in Alpha than due to Proton. Game runs great. You'll just have to tweak the settings once after the first install (same for Windows).
no ultrawide support, but works correctly
Nothing Proton couldn't handle. Would've been nice if it could support ultra-wide but at least it correctly handles the black bars and doesn't strech the image. That's not exactly a Linux specific issue but still worth mentioning.
Game just runs. After some fine tuning of the graphical settings, I was off to the races.
In game FPS limit to 60, set Deck refresh rate to 40hz, turned vsync on
Game could run well at 30fps at all low settings but it can be pushed a little more for a better experience at the cost of battery
If you're using an Nvidia GPU, game crashes will prevent you from making story progress.
Occasional pixelation on some shaders during rain (not the cyberspace glitch effects)
Using an 8BitDo wireless receiver, all XInput mapped A and B buttons both to A, making it impossible to menu cancel or stomp. Had to both disable Steam Input for the game and run the controller through a wired USB connection.
Certain sequences (both story missions and some guardian fights) cause the game to lock up, requiring a force close. Only happens on Nvidia GPUs. Because these crashes happen consistently on the same sequences, and because the sequences are required to continue the story progress, the game cannot be completed in its current state if you're on an Nvidia GPU. I had to switch over to my Steam Deck to make progress.
It works until it doesn't. Hoping for a fix to the Nvidia GPU drivers.
Works better now than it was at launch
Now that I'm on AMD hardware and the graphics libraries have updated, this game runs flawlessly.
Hit Play and it just worked
All videos played and everything ran just as expected. Only oddity was the game window appearing behind my taskbar during some screen transitions, but these were never intrusive as it was always during a loading screen before or after a stage and never any other time.
Played with an XboxOne controller using an 8BitDo wireless reciever (older model, no bluetooth) and everything worked without a hitch.
Cloud sync between desktop and Steam Deck not always perfect
Great out of the box experience, still waiting for proper controller support
Works great
Mouse cursor would not hide, even when using controller
No ultrawide support but the game correctly adds black bars so there's no stretching.
