Works fine, except servers
Minor screen tearing, sometimes takes a little bit of time to start, but is playable with no tweaks and works just as well as on windows(which is sometimes not at all, but thats just the servers)
Switch Pro controller does not work, Xbox one does.
Runs okay when only one car is spawned. Once ai comes in performance tanks.
It has been automatically disabling all my mods for the past few months.
Somehow, this game worked better on proton than windows. At launch there were numerous bugs, but somehow no linux user i have talked to, or i, have noticed any issues. Honestly impressive, considering the issues the chapter 1 release had in wine (hyperspeed mode)
Playable, as long as you are fine with frequently restarting the game and/or having missions interrupted
Controller occasionally decides not to work, and switching input methods causes a lag spike.
Game has begun randomly crashing. Sometimes I can play for an hour, sometime 15 minutes. Huge issue.
Occasionally after an hour or so, everyone except me disconnects. Reproduced about a hundred times. However, this is fairly rare, and welcome when there is a modder or a troll blowing me up again.
This is quite impressive, considering the vast number of problems that were present around proton 3. If rockstar and the proton team can get gta v running like this, there is not much excuse for other major developers. Indie studios I can excuse due to their limited resources.
People are genuinely surprised when they hear how well this runs on linux, the rating should be increased to platinum.
Small stutter whenever i input on my controller the first time after loading the game, then plays just fine after.
Multiplayer is identical to windows, if i were to sit a random person down in front of two machines both running the game, one on linux, and have them guess which is which, they would have a really tough time guessing.
Rockstar launcher could cause issues with big picture or steam deck, but would probably work fine after.
As long as you don't need butter smooth cutscenes or online, works great.
Slight stuttering in cutscenes. Otherwise perfect.
EAC said it was loading, then the game wouldn't let me play online because I wasn't running EAC. I did not disable it.
As previously noted.
EAC has a loading screen, but proceeds to not work.
This game is so close to being fully compatible, all it needs it to be enabled for use with proton. The game launches and plays as if it is entirely native. Very impressive, just wish it could do multiplayer.
Steam by default tries to load PlagueIncEvolved.x86, which does not exist. I fixed it by running link PlagueIncEvolved.x86_64 PlagueIncEvolved.x86 in the install directory to make a symlink by the name it expects that references the real executable, and it works identical to windows.
Does not run without the tweak I mentioned before.
frequent crashes on native, slowness on proton
Minor artifacting on proton, native is fine
You have to click in the game again after loading on proton, not on native.
When playing native, game is a little stuttery on the menu, plays fine, but crashes every couple levels. When playing on proton 5.13-4, game is even worse than Cyberpunk 2077 on a last gen console.
Every couple games on native, no apparent crashes on proton
Problems with MIDI
Events are totally borked. If I trigger event82 to walk to the left, for instance, event78 will walk to the left. This bug isn't documented by rpg maker and appears to be added via proton. I have no idea how or why this happens.
Occasional stuttering
Crashed at the laser puzzle on kronos island about 10 times in a row.
performance issues during startup, solid 60 elsewhere
Crashes every few minutes
Window sometimes shows a startup animation, but sometimes doesnt, and when it does it freezes upon tabbing out. Sound plays normally.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Potential issue with xwayland, considering others report it running fine.
occasional stutter later in the game, not a big deal considering the gameplay does not rely on a consistent framerate.
My last report mustve been a driver issue or something, as after reinstalling game plays fine. I have fully played through the game on linux and it works fine.
