Ran like a Dream...yea I did that. Game treats the deck like an Xbox controller but works like a charm and Ive not noticed any issues.
Refresh rate and Frame rate set to 40
Beautiful and Fun, specially with it runnin perfectly.
Have Refresh rate at 40, Framerate Limit at 40 Turned off the 30 FPS Lock. Turned off the Motion Blur, and Film Grain then turned on all the Ray Tracing. With those it ran fantasticly with almost steady 40fps. All controls worked perfect with the default "Official Layout for The Ascent - Gamepad"
Seems like the game has been updated sense precious reports and now works much better.

Ive tried proton Exp, 8-4,3,2,1, 8.0-2, 7.55, 7.0-6 none load
Ive tried Proton Exp, 8-4,3,2,1, 8.0-2, 7.55, 7.0-6 None of which works, get "Abnormal game Environment, please restart your computer and try again" error every time. Same results in Game and Desktop mode.
