I did have to force Steam to use Proton since the bonus features are "Native Linux" but not the game itself. Not a big deal, though.
Won't run without using 'protontricks 269330 dotnet20 dotnet40'
Although I couldn't get all parts of the game to work, it may just be me. The game seems very fun. Worth a look if you have some time!
I don't know if it's a bug, but I couldn't get the game to progress past the 1st level of the 4th world. I may be doing something wrong or there may be something else I'm supposed to do. I also couldn't get the randomly generated levels to generate, as far as I could tell. No errors were thrown and nothing broke, but the level never started.
Had to use "protontricks 606870 foss_corefonts" to install fonts so the menu and dialog text would display.
Not sure that it's a Proton specific issue, but I have not figured out how to get my Logitech Gamepad to be recognized/usable with this game. It works with other Proton/Steam games.
I experienced similar issues of not loading at all with newer version of Proton. Had to use 3.7-8 (from my list of versions) to get it to load the main menu at all.
Minor nuisance: If you want to import your save game from the prior "episode" of the game, you have to manually move it into the new folder location since Proton creates a completely new bottle for each game. In other words, if you try to import the end-game save from episode 1, the game looks for the prior save game from the episode 1 folder, which doesn't exist in the same bottle if you are using Proton. If you're just starting a new game with episode 2, all save games worked fine for me.
Works great out of the box, aside from importing the final save file from episode 1 (if you choose to do that).

Just an occasional artifact, but not really anything you'd even notice.
Apparently there's an intro video that plays. I thought it just took a while to load the first time. Definitely not something that affects the gameplay at all.
I had some lag during the intro "cut scene", but that was the only place so far and it was bearable.
I haven't played very long yet, but everything appears to be working just fine out of the box with Proton 7.0-1.
The controls are unique and a little hard to get used to, but it's a very unique take on a puzzle platformer. I'm enjoying it so far!
Full screen initially didn't overlap the the system menus, but switching full screen off and then on again worked for me.
Load time seems a bit lengthy, but I don't think that has anything to do with Proton. Once loaded, the game seems to run flawlessly.
Game hangs when you exit. You can alt-tab to go to steam and then stop the game. Not a huge problem and doesn't affect the actual gameplay.
