you NEED protontricks, 2. The game needs media foundation for anime cutscenes,
Anime cutscene latency was experienced when I included launch options like "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1", when I removed those launch options, the cutscene audio stopped being off sync with the video during anime cutscenes. I
I am currently using Proton GE, but I don't think this particular version of proton really mattered in getting it working. Installing Microsoft Media Foundation (mf) with proton tricks and running that mf_catherine.verb script with the proton tricks command seems to be what really got it working. 5. As of now it is running PERFECTLY without any issues, so if you're experiencing something with off-sync audio (could be wine3d launch option) or the game crashing at new game or before an anime cutscene (likely the mf_catherine.verb script needing to be run) then I recommend removing the game and following those steps in order. Feel free to reach out to me on reddit (nomadfh) if you're having issues running the game.
Playing through this game with GE proton 7-24 with the options listed was like night and day. Finally no stuttering, smooth framerate

I've played through the whole game on regular proton with no launch options and experienced lots of stuttering initially when entering a new area that went away after being in the area for about 10 minutes. After putting in the launch options listed and switching to GE proton instead of experimental, the game is just as smooth for me as it was on windows 11. I totally wish I discovered this sooner.

Had less than 10 FPS before I added launch options to detect my dedicated nvidia GPU

On initial login, the game takes a very long time to open, sometimes like 20 minutes. It just says "launching" on steam. And then there's a pop up of some error asking if you want to continue anyway, choose yes. I then closed the game and reopened it, and it took a little while and it finally opened. Every time after that, the game opened immediately and functioned perfectly. I've had to do this each time I've distro hopped and it always played out exactly the same way.
