Game works perfectly out-of-the-box
Game worked perfectly right away. No tinkering required.
The game runs perfectly out-of-the-box.
Textures loaded slowly sometimes.
Runs perfectly out of the box
The game runs perfectly out of the box, with Proton Experimental selected by default.
The game ran perfectly fine out-of-the-box.
Tried opening the Steam Overlay with Shift+Tab and the game crashed.
My Steam install uses Proton Experimental by default. Everything runs great with it.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
I have dual-boot set up on my computer - Windows 10 and Pop!_OS 21.10.
On Windows, the game would run smoothly at first, but after some time it would start stuttering and would sometimes crash.
Running on Linux out of the box, everything works perfectly. No stuttering even after hours of playing and no crashes either.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr gamemoderun mangohud %command%
The game did not work properly when using regular Proton, or Proton Experimental. It was crashing regularly during cutscenes.
Worked without issues with GE-Proton7-14.
I was unable to play the game with regular Proton, or Proton Experimental. The game would load the Main menu, but would crash on the initial cutscene, after starting a new game. I tried using different launch options to fix the issue, but that had no effect.
After switching the game to GE Proton 7-14, it ran perfectly without any issues.
Removing the framerate cap, setting the Launch Options, and switching to Proton-GE removed almost all stuttering and improved FPS a bit.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
The framerate is capped at 60 FPS by default. In order to bypass this, you'll need to open and edit the following file:
~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/17410/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/EA Games/Mirror's Edge/TdGame/Config/TdEngine.ini
In the file, edit the bSmoothFrameRate
line and set it to False
.
Additionally, I also disabled Mouse Smoothing, by editing the second file in the folder - TdInput.ini
. Simply find the line bEnableMouseSmoothing
and set it to False
.
Launching the game with the default Proton version and default settings resulted in stuttering during gameplay.
An ejoyable gaming experience after some tweeks.
The game doesn't launch
ROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 taskset -c 0-7 %command%
The game simply refuses to start, regardless of Proton version or launch commands.
The game runs well out-of-the-box
The startup logos and the death screen don't show up. The game is perfectly playable without them though.
Overall, the game works perfectly fine. I tried running the game with the latest version of proton-ge, which brought back the logos and death screen, but removed DLSS as an option in the settings. Not a big deal if you have powerful hardware, but for me DLSS offers the best performance.
Runs perfectly out-of-the-box.
For me, the game runs with Proton Experimental by default. The game runs with absolutely no issues out-of-the-box. A very small amount of stuttering can be noticed when the game loads a new area, but it disappears withing a few seconds. Using a PlayStation 5 controller also worked perfectly, including vibration.
The game runs perfectly out-of-the-box.
The game crashed once, during chapter 13. Restarted the game, reloaded my save, and everything worked fine.
I played the game at FullHD, Ultra settings, manually limited to 120FPS. On average the game maintained 120FPS, very rarely dipping to around 60FPS.
Overall, the game works just fine. Except for that issue in the main menu, when selecting a save game, the experience is good.
In the main menu, after selecting "Play", it was very difficult to select a save slot to start the game. The free save slots are barely visible on screen and selecting them with the mouse is difficult. I would recommend using the arrow keys, as it is much easier that way.
